Chapter 30: Rage in the Dark

The cold night wind brushed against Lady Tape's face as two of Mr. Crow's men dragged her through a narrow, dim hallway of the base. Her legs still felt heavy, but her mind was clear. The drug had worn off faster than they expected. A mistake on their part.

Big mistake.

Just as they reached the final door, she twisted.

With one fluid motion, her tape unraveled from her sleeves, slicing upward and wrapping around one guard's neck. He didn't even get to scream before she yanked him down with brutal force, his skull cracking against the wall.

The second man raised his weapon, but too slow. She spun behind him, slammed her knee into his spine, and finished him with a sharp strike to the throat.

Silence returned.

Lady Tape didn't waste time. She bolted back through the halls, ignoring her aching limbs. She had no plan—only the thought of saving them.

But as she turned the corner and reached the room where they were being held, she came to a stunned stop.

The floor was littered with unconscious bodies. Mr. Crow's men… all taken out.

Bunnyman and Deadknight stood in the middle of the chaos, blood on their fists, backs against each other, breathing heavy but upright.

"You two…?" she asked, stunned.

Bunnyman looked over his shoulder at her, wiping a cut on his cheek. "It was him," he said, nodding toward Deadknight. "All of it. Deadknight's not like us. He's something else."

Deadknight didn't turn. "Save the talk. We're not out yet."

Before any of them could move toward the exit, a shadow dropped behind them like a falling guillotine.

Lady Tape barely had time to react before Mr. Crow's hand gripped her by the neck. With terrifying force, he slammed her onto the hard floor.

Her body bounced off the ground with a thud.

"Stupid woman," Mr. Crow snarled.

Bunnyman lunged in a rage, only to be punched square in the chest and sent flying across the corridor.

Deadknight charged next, silent but swift. He threw a brutal kick, but Mr. Crow caught him, twisting his wrist and slamming him into the wall. He gripped Deadknight's throat tightly, lifting him off the ground.

"I warned you all," Mr. Crow growled, voice trembling with anger.

Bunnyman, still gasping on the floor, pulled something from his pocket—a syringe he had stolen earlier during the raid. He didn't know what it was or what it would do, but they were out of time.

He leapt forward and jabbed the needle into Mr. Crow's side.

The drug hissed into his bloodstream.

Mr. Crow roared, stumbling back in surprise. His grip on Deadknight loosened.

Without hesitation, Deadknight snatched Lady Tape into his arms. Bunnyman limped beside them, and together they escaped down the hallway as the sound of metal crashing behind them echoed like thunder.

They didn't look back.

But before they vanished into the night, Bunnyman caught a glimpse of Mr. Crow through the broken door. He stood in the flickering light, shaking—his veins blackened, his eyes wide and bloodshot with rage.

Whatever was in that syringe, it wasn't harmless.

The three vigilantes finally made it to the city. They climbed up onto a quiet rooftop under the stars. Lady Tape lay unconscious, her chest rising and falling steadily.

Bunnyman turned to Deadknight, exhausted. "She's still out cold from that slam. We need to get her somewhere safe."

He pulled a crumpled note from his pocket and handed it to him.

"My home. Take us there. Please."

Deadknight looked at the address for a moment, then nodded silently.

He carried Lady Tape in his arms and helped Bunnyman along as they crossed the city under the cover of darkness.

At last, they reached the apartment.

Deadknight knocked lightly.

The door opened—revealing Ivy.

She froze.

Her eyes locked onto the tall, intimidating man in black standing before her, carrying an unconscious woman and a guy in bunny mask.

Fear flickered across her face.

Deadknight stared back silently.
