Auriana
Our friends were waiting outside for Brooke, Renee, Skylar, Emma, and me.
"Hey guys." They greeted us as soon as we walked out of the bike shed.
"Hey Scarlet, we still have to clean up the gym," Nikki said. She looked at Scarlet again.
"Wow, you look cute." Scarlet was wearing a white T-shirt with a red vest, light blue shorts, black leggings, and red Converse. Jake walked over.
"Speaking of looking cute," I laughed. Jake was wearing a dark blue T-shirt with a white lightning bolt, light blue tight jeans, and dark blue Converse shoes.
"No, you are," he said. Suddenly, he picked me up and ran to the gym. I clung to him tightly. The rest of our friends ran after us. But stopped just in time before they bumped into Jake and me. We stood with our mouths open in front of the gym door. To everyone's surprise, the gym was spotless, you couldn't see a speck of dust lying around.
"What happened here?" Renee thought out loud. We didn't understand.
"Are you guys surprised?" All ten of us turned around, shocked. Michelle was standing behind us, laughing.
"We thought we had to clean up the gym," Skylar said.
"Principal Nickolas had a cleaning company clean it up over the weekend."
"So we don't have to do anything anymore?" Emma asked. Michelle shook her head.
"No, just go to your lockers quickly." We walked to our lockers in a slow pace while we were busy talking.
"It's a good thing you stayed. This wouldn't be any good without you," Nikki said.
"I'd die without you!" Scarlet said. Jake and I held hands.
"And otherwise I would have missed this." Scarlet pointed at the couple in love. My cheeks started to burn as Jake rolled his eyes.
"Aww, you two are so cute together!" That made me blush even more. Jake looked at me and burst out laughing.
"You look like a tomato!" he laughed. His comment made me frown.
"No, a strawberry," Brooke laughed.
"More like a fire truck," Emma said. I rolled my eyes and looked around the group.
"No, you're all wrong, she's as red as a baboon's ass!" Jeremy laughed. I punched Jeremy in the upper arm.
"OUCH!" We all burst out laughing except Jeremy.
"You hit hard for a girl." I shrugged innocently.
"Oh well," I laughed. We started walking to the classroom. Principal Nickolas came over to us. She had a large box with her to store the tiaras and crowns in.
"Where are your tiaras and crowns?"
"In our lockers, why?" Renee asked. We had just put them in our lockers before we walked to the gym. The principal was moving the box up and down.
"Because I'm going to put them in a display case."
"I'll get them, keys?" I held out my hand and they all put their keys in my hand. I walked over to Jimmy's locker first and got the crown out of his locker without any problems. Then I walked over to Brooke's but when I opened it I got glitter all over me.
"Did I mention I have a mini glitter cannon in my locker?" Brooke asked. I blew some glitter out of my mouth.
"No, a little late, huh?" I grabbed the tiara and walked over to Jeremy's locker.
"Auriana wait!" he began. A clown appeared. I fell backwards onto my butt in shock. Scarlet helped me up while Jeremy looked at me guiltily.
"Does anyone else have any surprises in their locker?!" The rest shook their heads. When I opened Jake's locker, I noticed something in his door.
"Uh Jake…why do you have a picture of me…" Jake slammed his locker shut, his face turning red.
"You weren't supposed to see that." I couldn't hold back my laughter any longer and burst out laughing.
"What? I'm not allowed to see a photoshopped picture of me in a bikini?" I asked between laughs. I kissed him on the cheek and opened his locker again where I took out the crown. I quickly took out the rest of the tiaras and crowns and gave them to Principal Nickolas.
"Thank you." She left us with a wink.
"Glitter looks good on you." I gave her a look that clearly indicated my disagreement while Emma and Skylar tried to wipe the glitter off my shoulders.
Nikki
"Okay who knows how to do the Pythagorean theorem?" Mrs. Van Dijk asked. My hand flew up in the air. This was a piece of cake.
"Except Nikki." No one raised their hand. There was a knock on the door. Mrs. Van Dijk walked to the door and opened it. Principal Nickolas walked into the classroom with two girls.
"Sorry to interrupt, these are two new students, Maya and Alex Mckoy." Maya had purple hair that fell in waves over her shoulders. She was a little shorter than the girl standing next to her and had brown eyes. She was wearing black pants with a white off-the-shoulder shirt and white sneakers. Alex had blond hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a black T-shirt with a white leather jacket and dark blue pants with white ankle boots.
"Welcome, I'm Nicole van Dijk."
"I'd like The Family to show them around, so if they could come forward?" the friends stood up and walked forward.
"This is Auriana, Emma, Scarlet, Jake, Brooke, Jimmy. Renee, Jeremy, Skylar and Nikki." We gave Maya and Alex a warm smile and then sat back down. Maya and Alex sat next to each other at the front. The principal said goodbye to the class and walked out of the room. I put my hand up again, but this time I wasn't the only one.
"Alex." I looked forward in surprise, but decided to let it go. After all, it was Alex's first day at West Field. Still, there was something about them that made me not quite trust them, like they were hiding something.
"I think Maya and Alex are hiding something." I sat down next to Emma. I didn't know exactly what it was, but I've been feeling like there was something she wasn't telling us all morning.
"You're just jealous because you're not the only smart one anymore," laughed Renee. Who joined them. Maya and Alex walked with Brooke to their table. Maya sat down next to Jimmy.
"Hey, Jimmy, right?" She wasn't entirely sure who was who.
"Yeah, and you're Maya, right?" Maya nodded. Her purple hair bounced up and down. Her smile was flirtatious and Brooke didn't like it one bit.
"Jimmy, can I talk to you for a minute?" Jimmy walked with Brooke out of the cafeteria. They stopped in front of the window and luckily I could read lips.
"What's wrong?" he asked worriedly. He could tell right away that she was worried about something.
"Maya likes you!" He realized why Brooke was acting like that.
"Really?" Brooke looked at him.
"Don't worry, I only have eyes for you," Jimmy said, grabbing her shoulders. Brooke wrapped her arms around his waist and laid her head on his chest.
"Promise me you'll never let me go."
"I promise." He kissed her head and they walked back together. Auriana was just taking a bite of her apple when she saw Alex staring at Jake. She choked and started coughing violently. Jake noticed and winked at her inconspicuously as he patted her on the back. Auriana had a look on her face that clearly said she was wondering what he was up to. And knowing him, it wasn't discrete.
"Hey Alex, don't stare like that, my girlfriend won't like that." Alex felt the blood rush to her cheeks and the temperature in the room seem to rise. We burst out laughing.
"What's next?" Jeremy asked.
"Biology," I replied. The bell rang just after I said those words.
"Oh that's nice!" Auriana said happily. Auriana and Jake walked up the stairs. Out of the corner of his eye he saw Alex walking behind them. He put his arm around Auriana. Alex looked away and Jake smiled contentedly.
