A New World with System

"I realize you must be confused by all this. You have nothing to worry about, we are responsible for explaining everything," explained a man wearing a black robe and a white box-shaped hat.

He introduced himself as Helderic, Grand Wizard of the Kingdom of Caer Vireth. He was accompanied by five elders from the wizard's hall, dressed similarly except for the color of their hats, which were black.

To start with the basics, Helderic explained where they had arrived. The Kingdom of Caer Vireth was one of the four major kingdoms in the Great Empire.

They were the result of a territorial expansion approved by the Great Emperor. The four kingdoms were Virelion, Caer Vireth, Eraldorn, and Clovis.

"The economic system and such are nearly identical to Earth's economic system. So, you need not worry about that," Helderic explained.

Agares, Jonathan, and the three others stepped out of the royal altar chamber and followed Helderic from behind. Once in a while, Agares turned sideways and observed the situation and atmosphere inside Caer Vireth Palace.

Some people were seen practicing magic, swordsmanship, and other skills. Helderic deliberately took the five chosen heroes around to make them familiar with their new world.

"Everyone has their own job. They can choose their job during the Job Selection," replied Helderic.

"Only a few of them get the hero job, the rest only get ordinary ones, " said the old man.

"What is a Job?" asked one of the women in the group of chosen heroes; Agares knew her as Livia.

"A Job is your status and occupation in this world. With it, you can receive missions according to your job. If you successfully complete a mission, you will receive money," replied Helderic.

Helderic looked ahead, observing Agares and the others, who seemed confused by his explanation. The old man smiled slightly, as if he needed to show them more visual examples.

"System Call!

[System activated]

[Hello, Helderic]

[Name: Helderic]

[Age: 67]

[Job: Mage]

[Title: Archmage Caer Vireth]

[Stage: 7-2]

[Affinity: Water]

Shocking! Agares and the others looked stunned as they witnessed a hologram panel appear in the fantasy world. Helderic's status appeared in front of the old man, visible to Agares and the others.

"This is the call system, everyone in this world have it. Activating it is quite simple," replied Helderic.

The old man showed them how to call up a person's personal system. They had to carve an S pattern in front of them with their fingers, then recite the system call spell.

Agares and the others understood quickly. They did exactly as the old man said, a blue light appeared when they carved the S pattern in front of them.

"System Call!"

[System activated]

[Hello, Agares]

[Name: Agares]

[Age: 24]

[Job: -]

[Title: -]

[Stage: 0-0]

[Affinity: -]

The system panel appeared before Agares, leaving him both startled and fascinated by this world. The others felt the same way, interested and surprised.

"Since you haven't done anything other than the summoning, some sections of the panel will be empty, " Helderic replied.

"Before you choose your jobs, there is something I must tell you," the old man explained. "Follow me."

Agares and the others nodded. They followed Helderic into a large building that served as the magical hub of the capital city of Cair Vireth, where many wizards worked and dedicated their lives to the development of magic.

"Greetings, Archmage," several people greeted Helderic, who smiled back at them.

"Are they—"

"Yes. Open the portal to the Job Hall," Helderic interrupted, giving the order.

"Yes."

A staff member formed a complex hand formation, bringing forth a circular magic rune that rotated clockwise. He shot the magic rune forward, creating a portal to another place. Agares and the others looked on in shock.

"Come inside."

Helderic told them all to enter one by one, but due to their ignorance and caution, no one dared to. Helderic smiled, feeling that the chosen heroes were too wary of him.

To prove the safety of the portal, Helderic stepped inside while dragging Agares by the hand. Helderic and Agares finally arrived inside the portal, which was shaped like a wide shallow pool with seven giant statues standing firmly and majestically in the center.

Agares stared at the seven statues in awe. Helderic smiled and stood right next to Agares.

"Those are the seven hero jobs, consisting of saber, lancer, warpriest, assassin, archer, priest, and mage. Those who obtain a hero job are entrusted with the heavy responsibility of saving the world," replied Helderic.

"Is that the real reason why you summoned us?" asked Agares. Helderic cleared his throat.

"But why? Aren't the people in your world familiar with all of this?" Agares asked again.

"It's because of talent and ability. The chosen heroes summoned from other worlds have talents and abilities that we don't have. I think it can help us save this world," Helderic explained.

'What does he mean?' Agares wondered.

Soon, Jonathan, Livia, and the others walked in after making sure the portal was safe. They were shocked to see seven giant statues standing in front of them, each with different poses and weapons. Helderic explained everything to them again.

Helderic carved an S pattern in front of his face and began calling the system.

"System call!"

[System activated]

[Hello, Helderic]

[Name: Helderic]

[Age: 67]

[Job: Mage]

[Title: Archmage Caer Vireth]

[Stage: 7-2]

[Affinity: Water]

"From my system panel, you can clearly see that my job is a mage. A title is something you receive suddenly when you accomplish something spectacular."

Agares and the others listened. They were trapped in this world, so their only way to survive was to adapt. It might seem easy for Agares and Jonathan, but others would think differently.

"Stage means level, similar to ranks. There are 10 stages in each job, where one stage has 10 smaller stages," explained Helderic.

"We call them realms and levels. Like mine, realm 7 and level 2."

"It's easier to increase your level than to increase your realm. The higher your realm, the more spiritual energy you need to increase your level and realm."

Agares fell silent, his hands still clutching his chin as if curious about what Helderic was explaining. Sometimes, Jonathan asked Agares about this, especially the parts he didn't understand.

"For general terms, realms 1-2 are referred to as the Soldier Rank. Realms 3-4 are referred to as the Officer Rank. Realms 5-6 are referred to as the Noble Rank. Levels 7-8 are referred to as the King Rank, and realms 9-10 are referred to as the Emperor Rank."

"So, you are a King-rank mage?" asked Agares. Helderic smiled and nodded slowly.

"How about it? Is there anything you want to ask?"

Agares, again with the same person, raised his hand and asked. That made Helderic curious about Agares.

"What is affinity?" asked Agares.

"The basic elements in your bodies. Your bodies are actually formed from five main basic elements: water, fire, wind, earth, and light."

"However, there is one basic element that is dominant in your bodies. That is your affinity," explained Helderic.

"For now, you will take the Affinity Test first, then the Job Selection Test, and finally the stage determination."

Agares nodded. He had received too much information at once, but luckily he understood it all. Helderic invited them to step outside and took them to a designated house to rest.

"Do you know something? You seem familiar with all this," asked Jonathan.

"I don't know. I just like new information."

Helderic stopped walking and arrived at a spacious house with a front yard full of flowers and green grass. This would be a place for Agares and the others to rest before taking the Affinity Test tomorrow.

"Thank you, Archmage."

"No problem. See you tomorrow," replied Helderic. Agares nodded in agreement.

One by one, they stepped into the house. They were all shocked to see such a luxurious house in the Middle Ages. Agares was also amazed, but his focus was diverted to something else.

"If he has high hopes for us, what if we disappoint him?" asked Agares.

"Don't worry. If we work together, we can meet their expectations."
