After completing the resignation procedures, it was already past eight in the evening. I dragged my weary body back home.

The living room lights were off, an expanse of darkness and desolation.

Just then, a text from Liang Mei flashed on my phone again. She sent a photo.

In the photo, she was wearing the latest Cartier necklace, and was sleeping in an embrace with Shen Yanqing, whose face was flushed, looking quite drunk.

[Brother Yanqing drank too much while shielding me from wine at the wrap-up party, I'll take good care of him for you.]

Her caption was a blatant boast.

Little did she know, Shen Yanqing reached this position because of the countless drinking sessions I attended, negotiating endorsements and pulling in investments for him. As a result, my stomach was left in ruins, leading to several sudden trips to the hospital for acute gastroenteritis.

I thought he wouldn't drink, but now it seems, he just didn't want to drink for me.

Turns out, he does care for people.

It's just that person isn't me.

I laughed at myself bitterly, ignored Liang Mei, and opened my computer to browse through invitations sent to my email from various companies.

At that moment, an account that had persistently invited me for several years caught my attention.

This is a renowned company abroad. Back when I was just gaining some reputation in the industry, they approached me for a collaboration, but I was wholly focused on Shen Yanqing, so I declined.

Unexpectedly, until today, they hadn't given up, even offering more lucrative terms.

Thinking I should change my path and start anew, I finally agreed to this longstanding invitation.

Almost as soon as I agreed, they immediately sent a reply, only then did I realize my influence.

Then I booked a flight to Los Angeles for two days later.

Shen Yanqing once got injured while working with wires for a film in the United States. Since then, he never accepted roles that required shooting in the US, missing out on many high-quality scripts. His acting career hit a bottleneck, for which I took quite a bit of blame from fans, calling me a useless manager.

He never once defended me.

Back then, I thought, if it came down to it, I'd just work harder to secure more domestic resources for him, and it would be fine.

During that time, I worked overtime until midnight every day, burned the midnight oil writing proposals, lost a lot of weight, and finally managed to revive his career.

But now, I'm about to go to the place he most dreads to set foot in.

It seems like all of this is predestined by fate.

Shen Yanqing, once I go to Los Angeles, you probably won't find me anymore.
