When I was at home writing my resignation letter, a new notification popped up on my phone.

I clicked it open and saw that it was a picture posted by Lin Lu.

The picture showed two hands making a heart shape, with a dazzling diamond ring on the ring finger.

The caption:

[Double victory in love and career, I love the surprise my brother prepared for me! Our future will be forever happy.]

The caption was only visible to me, full of provocation.

Today is also my tenth wedding anniversary with Jiang Chen.

But he obviously forgot about it long ago.

I suppressed the hidden pain in my heart and took off the wedding ring I had worn for ten years.

Looking at the ring, I felt a bit dazed.

This is the band he and I chose together ten years ago, without a diamond, not even exquisite.

Back then, he was strapped for cash, his eyes red as he promised me: "When I have money, I'll get you a real diamond ring, I'll never betray you for life!"

But now, his love no longer belongs to me.

I put away my memories, threw this slightly rusted ring, along with what little reluctance I had left, into the trash bin.

It wasn't until late at night that Jiang Chen returned, with a strong scent of perfume wafting over.

I've smelled this scent on Lin Lu before.

We are in a biopharmaceutical company, where researchers are strictly prohibited from using makeup products, as their scents can affect the colonies in the lab.

But every rule has an exception, and this iron law fails on Lin Lu.

His expression was full of exhaustion.

Seeing that I didn't go to greet him and help with his coat as usual, he seemed puzzled, casting several glances at me out of the corner of his eye.

"Lu Lu drank too much tonight and insisted I accompany her, which took up some time."

I was somewhat surprised; it was the first time he explained something to me in all the years we have been together.

"Okay, I understand."

Jiang Chen's eyes tightened, seemingly unable to comprehend my indifference.

He reached out to pull me, wanting to take me back to the bedroom to sleep.

But I didn't like him getting too close.

I stepped back to avoid his hand.

I didn't go to the master bedroom; I slept directly in the guest room.

That night, I slept very soundly.
