Awakening

The technician felt he had been stripped of his dignity. He had never felt so much disgrace in his entire life- well, past life.

This was because he had underwent the normal functions of a baby and had soiled himself, which led to his mother having to change him. This wouldn't have been an issue for a normal child, but unfortunately he wasn't. Thus, the technician's ears burnt red as he gazed dazedly at the ground in shame.

Witnessing this, his mother let out a laugh as she recognized the source of her son's red face. "Ezekiel, you silly thing, it's quite normal don't worry about it."

That's right, Ezekiel hadn't been given his earth name in this world and truthfully, he welcomed the change. After all his aim in this world was to live a completely new life compared to that of his past.

At this point he had spent a year on this new world and had found out many things. This new world, named Taia, was nothing like his old one with only a few similarities. In the year he had spent there, he had gotten familiar with the new language and his new family.

And he had to admit, he had hit the lottery when it came to his parents. His parents on earth had died early in his life, leaving him with his drunkard uncle. Luckily, he was still able to attend school. Still, he had had to provide for himself while at his uncle's, as the man mostly wasted the money he gained on women and gambling. So yes, he felt truly happy with his new family.

Ezekiel's mother was called Evelyn Flynn, a kind and caring woman with beautiful blond hair, emerald colored eyes and a face which could cause most men to kiss the very ground she walked on, who had been enthralled by the funny but dedicated character of his father, Matthew Flynn. His father possessed black hair and oddly red colored eyes and a to-die for face. Ezekiel himself had obtained the blond hair of his mother and handsome features of his father. Combined with his unique amethyst colored eyes created a face that would later develop into one of a lady killer.

His family was even royalty in this world, though they were only at the Earl level status. Still they were happy with their status and only wanted the best for their son, making Ezekiel experience the happiness of a warm family.

Still that warmth wasn't going to dissuade him from the path he wished to pave for himself. A path he would soon set foot in. The Flynn parents had also realized that their son was way more intelligent for his age, so they never stopped him from heading into the family library to know more about the world. It was also because of this that his mother could tease him so much.

Suddenly a voice rang out around the two. "Where am I this time?"

Ezekiel immediately recognized his father's voice and revealed a pensive expression. He glanced at the shadows that filled the corridor and in the end he could only pout. "I can't see it."

"Haha." A hand landed on the child's shoulder as his father appeared behind him, seemingly jumping out of Ezekiel's shadow. "You're far from winning your bet against me, Ez."

"That's cheating. You're using your magic." Ezekiel frowned and punched his father with his weak hands. The man chuckled feeling the weak force that hit his face.

"It's not cheating if I sneaked up to you then used it."

That's right. In his new world, there was not as much advance in technology as in Earth but they made that up with the mystical phenomenal force called Mana. Its properties seemed to vary from person to person, some people gained the ability to ingrain it into their body while others could use it to manipulate their surroundings.

His parents had made sure to teach him all about the concept of mana. For one, there were Classes within Taia in which Awakened individual embarked based on their talent. These classes were the Brawler, Mage, Forger and Seeker.

The most common Class was the Brawler, the class that involved infusing mana into one's body to battle with super human strength. The Mage class was one that granted the manipulation over the 8 basic elements; Fire, Wind, Earth, Water, Lightning, Light, Dark and Space.

The Forger and Seer classes were non-combatant ones. The former being able to forge items with mana like properties while the latter could partly see into the future or track events of the past. Although there were rare cases where Forgers could indeed battle but with weaker fighting prowess.

His father and mother were both Mages, his dad having an affinity for the unique Shadow magic which, as its name suggested, allowed him to manipulate shadows while his mom was a Mage with Lightning magic, allowing her to wreak havoc with her control over lightning.

Evelyn smiled and reassured her son. "Don't worry, you're finally a year old. You just have to wait 4 more years then you'll be able undergo your awakening ceremony. And you'll be a step closer to winning that bet."

Hearing this, a bit of impatience welled up within Ezekiel as he heard this. He couldn't wait to finally undergo the ceremony and awaken his magic power.

To Matthew and Evelyn those years passed very quickly but to the technician, the years seemed like an eternity. The upside was that as the time for his fifth birthday, the more they revealed to him about the world of Magic. He spent the rest of the time, training his young body as best he could, using the mass released method back on his former earth. All of this as he waited for the day to finally arrive.

And it did.

Ezekiel stood in front of a mirror, readying himself. As someone from a low class family back on Earth, he wasn't really used to the act of maids dressing him. He had grown a lot the past 5 years, now standing at 3ft 10' tall which was basically the height of a 6 year old. His face was slowly revealing his future lady killer-like handsomeness.

Wiping off any feeling of anxiety within him, the technician revealed a smile and walked out his room to meet his parents. 5 years had been enough to properly cement their position in his heart, to the point that he almost assumed his past life as fake. But of course, that would never happen.

Matthew and Evelyn smiled as they watched their son meet with them, displaying a confident smile. No words needed to be exchanged among the three and they turned to the main hall within the mansion where an orb floated at its center.

There were no guests except the maids and guards. This was because the trio had no need for that kind of attention and would much rather announce it all when the ceremony had taken place.

As if having already revised it before, Ezekiel stepped forward while his parents stayed back. His steps were measured as he walked over to the orb and gazed at it. One could say it was a truly mystical object, with multiple colors swirling within to form what seemed like a rainbow.

Exhaling slowly to release his anxiety, he brought his hands forward and placed it on the orb while excitement boiled within him as he waited to see what his element would be.

One second. Ten seconds. One minute.

In the end, Ezekiel stood with his palm on the orb for 10 minutes while a feeling of dread overcame him.

He could not awaken!
