The internet was completely ablaze with a glaring red "exploding" character dominating the entire homepage.

#Lu Group President's Affair#

#Lu Ze Admits to Business Marriage#

The comments under the hashtags were also rapidly rolling in:

[Such a disgusting jerk and slut pair]

[Knowing he has a fiancée and still shamelessly sticking to him]

[The guy isn't any better. If there's no love, just break off the engagement. I don't believe a dignified president can be forced into marriage.]

Angry netizens were venting their emotions unchecked online, and even though Lu Group paid to suppress the trending searches several times, it was of no use.

Lu Ze's phone rang again and again, and after the thirtieth time hanging up, I finally impatiently picked up on the thirty-first call.

Maybe Lu Ze recently noticed my increasingly cold attitude, sensing something slipping out of his control. Once the call connected, he surprisingly took the initiative to show concern for me:

"Didn't you always say you wanted to see the sea and climb the snow mountain? I'll go with you, and then let's get our marriage license."

I even suspected it was a different person on the other end, otherwise, why would he suddenly bring up wanting to marry me?

Thinking about the trending topic, I instantly understood everything.

But what he doesn't know is, I no longer want to marry him.

I didn't respond, just remained silent.

"By the way, can you come out and clarify the trending topics first? After this is over, I'll make time to properly accompany you, okay? You can go wherever you want, and I swear I won't be late again."

Turns out everything he promised me came with a price.

I calmly replied, "No matter what you think, I didn't do those things online."

Lu Ze's voice hesitated: "I'm... not taking sides, but as the company president, I have a responsibility to care about my subordinates. Qingqing is just a simple girl, don't hold it against her."

I doubted if there was something wrong with my ears; his tone carried a trace of pleading.

But he clearly forgot that if it were just a simple superior-subordinate relationship, there wouldn't be this much concern.

Back then, Lu Ze, young and impetuous, was incited by someone with ill intentions and had an argument with me, the only argument I remember him having with me.

We had a cold war for a whole month, until Lu Ze, his eyes red from crying, knelt at my door begging for forgiveness, for three days and nights, drenched by rain until he fainted with high fever.

I rushed out and hugged him, crying, asking why he was so foolish.

Yet he didn't care, just held me tightly, smiling more brilliantly than flowers: "You finally came out to see me. I was wrong; from now on, no matter what happens, I'll unconditionally trust you, I swear."

I deliberately said, if you break your promise, I won't want you anymore.

Lu Ze wasn't angry: "If I really became such a scoundrel, you wouldn't need to say anything; I'd pack my things and disappear cleanly from your sight."

But Lu Ze, you forgot your oath. The moment you doubted me for the sake of your little secretary, there was nothing more possible between us.
