The remote control was clutched in my hand for 24 hours, already stained red with my blood, yet I never pressed it.

24 hours later, the kidnappers were shot dead by the special forces that had been called in.

A group of uniformed people rushed in, led by my parents.

I lay weakly on the ground, watching them walk hurriedly past me.

They even stepped on my severed fingers scattered on the floor several times.

They checked the scene for a long time before my mother finally crouched beside me. When her gaze swept over my severed fingers, there was a hint of disgust.

She reached out to touch my face, but ended up just adjusting my collar.

She cried mournfully, "Xiaowei, mom and dad are late, this time it's our fault."

"We were abroad, so we couldn't save you in time. Given the situation now, it's inconvenient to recognize you. Just follow the doctors and get treated."

I looked at my mom with empty eyes, my tightly clenched right hand twitched.

If my biological mother had shown a little concern about whether my hand hurt or could be healed, she would have found the remote control capable of destroying their entire family in my mutilated palm.

But she didn't.

Then, a few nurses surrounded me, their eyes brimming with tears, gently soothing me, "It's okay, baby, you're saved now."

"It doesn't hurt, it won't hurt anymore..."

They cried while picking up my severed fingers from the floor.

Even knowing there's no chance to reattach them, they still carefully preserved them.

My parents had long turned away, ignoring me.

When I was lifted onto the stretcher, a nurse noticed I was tightly gripping something in my hand.

She gently coaxed, "Baby, let go, auntie will bandage you, once bandaged it won't hurt as much."

Seeing no response from me, she tried to pry open my hand, but any force made me bleed, so she had to give up.

Helpless, she had to call dad, "Chief Li, the child is holding something in his right hand that he won't let go. I suspect it might be something important related to the kidnappers or the family... would you like to check?"

Dad's expression turned stern, as if he had thought of something, and he started walking towards me.

At this moment, Li Yuzhe, wearing a white suit, rushed in under the heavy protection of the special forces.

With a terrified face, he threw himself into dad's arms, trembling all over, as if he were the victim.

Dad patiently comforted him, his gaze falling back on my hand.

A trace of jealousy flashed in Li Yuzhe's eyes, he screamed and pulled dad, "Dad, brother's hand is scary! Don't go over, Zhezhe will have nightmares!"

Dad immediately stopped, nervously covering Li Yuzhe's eyes, intending to take him out.

The superior walked up to dad, questioning, "Old Li, that boy has been looking at you, as if he has something to say, do you know him?"

Dad did not even turn his head, "I don't know him."

The superior patted dad's shoulder, "The kidnappers were targeting your son, you must keep an eye on Zhezhe."

Dad nodded, "Of course, even if something happens to me, I won't let anything happen to my son."

Mom also sighed softly:

"Luckily it wasn't Zhezhe who was kidnapped..."

I lay limp on the stretcher like a dead fish, my eyelids twitched, uncontrollably, hot tears instantly covered my cheeks.

But I still forced myself, trembling, to raise my right hand towards mom.

Mom, this is something very important to you, I haven't shown it to anyone.

But why won't you look at it?

Do you find me disgusting?

Mom screamed and quickly dodged, standing up and patting her uniform that wasn't even stained with blood.

My hand froze in mid-air.

Over there, Li Yuzhe happily urged mom, "Mom, hurry, dad said the three of us are going to have a Western meal to celebrate surviving the disaster!"

Watching this family happily leave, I could no longer bear it...

My tightly clenched right hand relaxed, and with bloody fingers, I pressed the release button.
