"This homework's hard…"
"You're already in college. How can you not solve high school-level problems?"
"College students forget everything they learned in high school."
"Completely useless."
"That's harsh! My main job is being an assassin, remember?" Fusui pouted.
"Like I don't know. You Kure Clan people are all assassins on the side and something else as your main job." Rinji gave her a disdainful look. "No way the world needs that many people killed. And your clan's huge."
"Exactly. That's why I need to job-hunt after graduation."
Fusui slumped over the table and turned her head to look at Rinji.
"I don't wanna work anymore. Take care of me."
"Keep dreaming."
"Aw… so cold."
She pressed her face to the table.
From the very beginning, Rinji had thought this woman was a handful. Four years later, she was worse than ever.
"I heard Karura confessed to you, and you agreed right away?"
"You already know that."
"That was fast for something free."
"None of your business."
"Hehe~" Fusui lifted her head and smiled at Rinji. "Well, it makes sense. Karura definitely inherited the Kure clan's traits. She's strong, and she moves fast—sees a guy she likes, goes after him, and then has his baby."
"Oh?"
"You probably didn't know. Karura's mom gave birth to her at eighteen. Word is, she found a nearly thirty-year-old husband when she was sixteen."
"…Impressive."
"But I'm not that amazing." Fusui sighed with a smile. "I'm not a once-in-a-century genius like my big brother, and my skills aren't that great either."
"You're doing just fine," Rinji said calmly from the side.
"Even if you were weak back then, there weren't many people who could beat me. Aside from my old man, you were the second person who ever did. A win is a win, no need for excuses."
"Mhm."
"Beating me means you're strong."
Fusui rested her cheek on her hand and smiled at Rinji.
"You're still the same as back then, Rinji."
---
"Rinji-kun, you're free tomorrow, right?"
"Secretary Fujiwara, I'm someone who hasn't even finished a single piece of summer homework and is currently buried at my desk trying to catch up."
Rinji said this while lying in bed in his pajamas.
Of course, he wasn't actually doing any homework—Fusui was doing it for him. Not only writing it, but even matching his handwriting.
"…Are you lying in bed while talking to me, Rinji-kun?"
"Did you install surveillance in my house?"
"No way."
Fujiwara Chika laughed.
"I can just hear the laziness in your voice."
"…You're too sharp."
"So, can you come to school tomorrow? It's time to start practicing again, don't you think?"
"…What time?"
"2 PM, meet in the music room~"
"Alright."
After hanging up, Rinji flopped back down on the bed in a big X.
All in all, it had been a pretty fulfilling summer break. He'd joined the deadly underground fighting tournament hosted by that old man Katahara, fought several decent opponents, earned over a trillion yen in funding, acquired a ton of patents and tech—laying the foundation for restarting Amano Pharmaceuticals.
He even beat up a bunch of people from the Shinomiya family, including Shinomiya Gan'an himself.
More importantly, he got a girlfriend.
Aside from not being able to go to the fireworks festival with the rest of the student council, this summer was practically perfect.
"Hmph, I'm no longer that broke kid with just 24 million USD. I'm a rich guy with a girlfriend—living the dream."
Rinji chuckled, turned off the lights, and went to sleep.
---
Late night.
A faint noise broke the silence of the empty room.
The door to Rinji's bedroom creaked open, and a figure tiptoed inside.
Upon spotting the peacefully sleeping Rinji, the figure grinned maliciously, climbed onto the bed, and threw off the blanket.
At that moment, Rinji's eyes snapped open.
He grabbed the figure's shoulder and flipped them over in a takedown, pinning them to the bed. From under the pillow, he drew a handgun and aimed it at their head.
"Ah!"
"Shut up. Don't move."
Rinji kept the gun aimed at the intruder with one hand while the other patted them down.
Even though he'd lived in peace for six months, he hadn't let down his guard. Even in sleep, he could instantly react to danger.
As usual, he needed to disarm his attacker.
But…
He didn't find any weapons—only smooth, firm, and elastic skin.
"..."
"You've been feeling me up for a while now, Rinji. You really are pervy."
Hearing the familiar voice, Rinji turned on the lamp beside the bed without any expression.
The room lit up, revealing Fusui lying beneath him, dressed in very revealing black lingerie.
Her curvy figure and sexy outfit were undeniably alluring.
"What are you doing in my room?"
"Night raid."
"You're just admitting it like that?"
"Of course."
Rinji pulled the gun away from her head. Fusui sat cross-legged on his bed and smiled. "I told you this morning, right? Women of the Kure clan move fast."
"Is this what you meant by moving fast?" Rinji's eyebrow twitched.
"I'm a killer—I'll do whatever it takes to reach my goal~"
"Get back to your room."
"Tch. So this night raid failed?"
"It was never going to work. Never."
After kicking Fusui out and sending her back to the guest room, Rinji put the safety back on the gun, tucked it under his pillow, pulled the blanket over himself, and turned off the light again.
"Hmph. You think you can tempt a man who already has Karura? Naive."
He snorted twice in self-satisfaction, proud of his self-control.
Still, he hoped Karura would come back soon. With his girlfriend by his side, even someone as shameless as Fusui wouldn't dare try something like a night raid.
That said, he had to admit—ever since he got a girlfriend, his luck with women had taken a weird, ridiculous turn.
He never expected Fusui to be one of them.
