Chapter 16: "Since When Does ANBU Police the Police?!"  

The head of the Sarutobi clan. 

The Hokage's own brother. 

A decorated veteran of Konoha— 

Now lay headless at Yoru's feet. 

Silence. 

Even Fugaku's hands trembled. 

This madman… 

Does fear even exist in his vocabulary?! 

Beside him, Aoki and Yamakaze stood frozen. 

They believed in their captain—but this? 

Too ruthless. 

The Sarutobi clan erupted. 

"BASTARD!" 

"YOU DARE KILL OUR LEADER?!" 

"AVENGE HIYU-SAMA!" 

Yet as they surged forward, Yoru's blade flashed. 

His three-tomoe Sharingan burned like hellfire. 

The mob halted. 

Then—two figures landed between them. 

Uchiha Shisui. 

Sarutobi Shinnosuke. 

Shisui's voice cracked. "Yoru—ARE YOU INSANE?!" 

Yoru didn't turn. "Define 'insane.'" 

"That was the SARUTOBI CLAN HEAD!" 

"You've just lit the fuse for civil war!" 

Shisui's worldview shattered. After Hiruzen's lecture on peace, this was what greeted him? 

Yoru scoffed. "War?" 

"Who led an armed mob into Uchiha territory?" 

"Who struck first?" 

The Sarutobi flinched. 

Aoki shouted: "Hiyu attacked first!" 

Yoru eyed Shisui. "Hear that?" 

Shisui gritted his teeth. "You could've subdued him! Did he HAVE to die?!" 

"Pathetic." Yoru's laugh was ice. "You've fought in wars, yet spout nursery-school morals?" 

Shinnosuke's ANBU mask hid his fury. "Yoru. You're coming with us." 

"Why?" 

"For murdering a clan head." 

"I need no excuses." 

"The Police answer to NO ONE—least of all ANBU." 

Shinnosuke's knuckles whitened. "Hiyu's crimes were for the Hokage to judge!" 

"And you're not the Hokage." 

"I act on his ORDERS!" 

"Which were?" 

Silence. 

The order was to stop Hiyu—prevent bloodshed. 

Yoru smirked. "Exactly. Yet here you are… harassing the Police."* 

Shinnosuke's chakra spiked. "If you resist, the Sarutobi WILL retaliate!" 

"They haven't moved." Yoru's Sharingan gleamed. "But you're welcome to try." 

Shisui sighed. "Clan Head… forgive me." 

His chakra flared— 

Fugaku's stomach dropped. 

Shisui AND Shinnosuke? 

Even Yoru can't— 

Yet Yoru grinned. 

He dumped 100功德 (virtue points) into his Sharingan. 

BOOM. 

Crimson light exploded from his eyes—darker, deeper, drowning the battlefield in dread. 

"Come." 

To everyone present, Uchiha Yoru was a demon. 

Then— 

Fugaku stepped forward. 

Shisui gasped. "Clan Head?!" 

Shinnosuke hissed: "You shield this murderer?" 

"No." Fugaku's voice was steel. "I seek justice." 

"Then hand him over!" 

"To the HOKAGE'S judgment—not yours." 

Shinnosuke froze. 

The Police Force behind Fugaku pulsed with chakra. 

Dozens of blood-red eyes locked onto ANBU. 

"You…" Shinnosuke recoiled. 

Since when did Fugaku grow a spine?
