Chapter 9

When Sheila knocked on her bedroom door after Derrick had left, Lucy did not know what to think. She had heard their whole conversation. Knew about the potion he’d procured for her. Her heart had almost trampled her body to death when he’d vowed to give her all the time she needed.

“You did that on purpose?” Lucy asked Sheila.

“Yes, but not to butt in. Derrick is my cousin, Lucy, but he is also the Alpha. What he feels affects us all, and he’s been on edge. So, I want to know, are you gonna put him and us out of our misery? Are you gonna let him claim you?”

“Yes,” she’d said, knowing full well she was. Sheila handed her the vial and Lucy looked at it in her hands. It seemed so small, but the gesture was huge.

“Yes, I am going to let him claim me. And I am going to claim that big man right back,” she proclaimed, and wondered what the hell she was waiting for.

“Lucy!” Sheila had screamed when she opened the second-story bedroom window and vaulted out.
