Chapter 4

He was with his whole group of friends.

Jessica was there too.

Leonardo was holding a designer handbag in one hand, his other arm wrapped around Jessica's waist.

They were walking at the back of the group.

Occasionally, Jessica would turn to whisper in his ear, and Leonardo would always lean down, listening attentively.

Not like with me.

Leonardo had been taller than me since we were kids, and he just kept shooting up.

When I was with him, I always had to bounce on my toes and crane my neck to talk to him.

It seems you're willing to bend for someone you truly care about.

I took a deep breath.

I reminded myself to have some dignity.

His life was no longer my business.

If I obsessed over it, I'd have to slap myself.

But there seemed to be only one way to the gates.

I could only walk far behind them.

Finally, the path split.

Leonardo seemed to be getting agitated.

He tried to make a few calls that didn't go through, then messed with his phone for a bit.

Finally, he borrowed a friend's phone and walked toward the restrooms, looking annoyed.

A moment later, my phone rang. It was an unknown number.

"Kira, you're really throwing a tantrum this time, huh? I have to be the one to call first?

"You even blocked me?

"If you're so tough, then keep ignoring me.

Let's see who takes care of you when you're all alone in a new city like Seattle."

Leonardo's voice was harsh, scolding me without a break.

I stayed silent. There was nothing left to say.

But Leonardo seemed to get even angrier.

"I won't say more. Hurry up and unblock me.

"I'm going overseas with friends for a few weeks, my phone might not work. Don't you dare sit around crying about it."
