Chapter 4

Abigail arrived home, but as usual no one was home. Her step mum was always busy and barely had time, her birth mother died while giving birth to her, while her father died when she was 4

"Argh, I'm so hungry " she said as she made her way to the kitchen but there was no food in the kitchen

"As expected of her" she said and was about to leave the kitchen when she suddenly received a call from Ann

"Hello" Ann said from across the phone

"Do you have food at home??" Abigail asked

"Yes, why??" She asked

"I'm coming over" Abigail said as she left the house and drove off to Ann place.

********DOOR BELL RINGS********

"I'm coming!!" Ann shouted as she went to open the door

"Abi!" She exclaimed happily and was about to hug her

"Where's the food??" Abigail asked as she made her way into the house

"Are you for real, I was so worried about you, and now I finally get to see you and the only thing you can actually do is ask for food " Ann lamented

"Lets talk over food " Abigail said as she gave a quick smile

"Whatever " Ann replied as she rolled her eyes and went to get her food. Soon Ann came out of the kitchen holding hot steamed fried rice with chicken

"You never disappoint " Abigail said as she tapped her shoulder and soon digged in

"May I ask you a question??" Ann asked

"When did you start needing my permission to talk " Abigail replied with food in her mouth

"Where were you yesterday??" She asked. Immediately Abigail stopped eating as memories of the night before flooded back

"Lets not tqlk about it" she said after a pause

"Hmm, if you say so" Ann replied

"Thats by the way, our final year exams are tomorrow, hope you didn't forget " Ann reminded

"What!!" Abi exclaimed as she shocked on her food

"Dont tell me you actually forgot " Ann said

"I actually did" Abi replied

"You are really unbelievable " Ann said

"I'll stay over at your place till night fall " Abigail said as she happily continued eating

******* BY NIGHT FALL **********

"Abi" Ann called out to Abigail who was sleeping

"Mmmmm" she replied in her sleeping state

"Its 10 already " Ann said

"What!" She shouted as she jumped from her sleep

"I was joking, its just 9 but I think you should be on your way home now, besides your phone has been buzzing non stop " Ann explained

"Hmm, I'll head home now" Abigail said as she stood up

"Byee...we'll meet in school tomorrow then" Ann said but got no response only the class of the door

On arriving home, Abigail met her mum who was waiting for her seated on the couch

"Where are you coming from" Mrs Wen asked

"When did you start caring about my whereabouts??" She asked as she was about to walk up to her room

"I have been transferred " Mrs Wen said

"Congrats to you" Abigail said with no expression still walking to her room

"We are leaving tomorrow " Mrs wen said

"What!!, who is the we??" She asked

" you are coming along with me Abigail " she said

"No way, I have exams tomorrow, my final year exams" she pointed out

"I can't do anything about that sorry, and we aren't going to argue on that" Mrs wen said

"No we are " Abigail said angrily

"I advise you to start packing up, we are leaving first thing tomorrow morning " Mrs wen said as she went up to her room.

Abigail went up to her room frustrated as she burried her face in the pillow and sobbed

"Why am I cry, whom am I crying for, is it for Kiel that doesn't even love me or for the final year exams I am going to miss or my friends I'm leaving behind " she asked herself

"Maybe I really need this trip, maybe I should really start a fresh and forget about here and leave all my past behind " she said to herself as she started packing her bags

THE NEXT MORNING

Around 7:00am, they were at the airport already

"Wait here, I'll be right back" Mrs wen said as she went to the reception. Abigail quickly took out her phone and was about to send Ann a text message but sadly she found out her phone was dead

"What the hell!!, I forgot to charge it yesterday " she said frustrated

"I'm back, I've gotten our tickets, let's go now" Mrs wen said, Abigail who was fighting back her tears had no other choice but to comply because she knew no one was coming for her and she had nothing left to hold on to. She swallowed a big lump before getting on the plane

Meanwhile in school, the exam commenced but Abigail was no where to be found, Ann and Juliet were very worried about her because they knew Abigail wasn't the type to joke with her grades

"Everyone please have your seats" the class teacher spoke for the commencement of the exam

"Where is Abigail??" Ezekiel asked Ann

"I don't know" Ann said worried

"Didn't she tell you anything, probably her whereabouts??" He asked

"She didn't " Ann replied

"Have you tried calling her??" He asked

"Her phone is off" Ann replied

"Please have your seats" the teacher repeated. Soon the exam commenced and was finally over. At dismissal Ezekiel came to meet Ann again to inquire but still got no news, he quickly went in search of Abigail, Ann and Juliet went to her home but found out from the neighbors that they don't live there anymore and that they had relocated

"What!! Relocated, how" they both asked

"I saw them leaving this morning " the neighbor said as she left. Ann quickly called Ezekiel on the phone and told him what she had just heard

"What!!, relocated??, how, to where??" He asked

"We don't know, that's all we could get " Ann said as she left with Juliet

"Abigail, where are you" Ezekiel asked in a worried state
