Because of this, not only did he withstand the mountain-like pressure pressing down on him, he even went so far as to look Principal Greyfax directly in the eyes.
Hoh…
Greyfax blinked in surprise. No—surprise was an understatement. He was utterly shocked.
He hadn't even unleashed the full extent of his aura—yet it was more than enough to make seasoned demons tremble in fear. And here was this new cadet, standing tall and staring back like it was nothing.
The astonishment only lasted a moment before morphing into something else entirely—
Excitement.
What a talent!
How long has it been since I felt this thrill?
I must teach him.
"…Two times, kid," Greyfax finally said, trying to maintain composure.
"Take it or leave it."
Licht chuckled, knowing he'd won.
You're still too kind, old man.
"Four times," Licht replied casually.
Greyfax's eye twitched. "I've had to endure a mountain of media scrutiny because of you."
"You're the one who hyped me up so badly! The least you can do is follow through."
"…Three times," Greyfax grumbled.
"That's the absolute max."
"Deal," Licht said with a smug grin.
Greyfax's face darkened, realizing he'd just been thoroughly fleeced.
"Dealing with you is just as nasty as dealing with your father."
"Thank you for the compliment", said Licht with a faint smile
"It wasn't a compliment, though."
In reality, both Lichts—past and present—had no fond memories of that smelly old man, so they took Principal Greyfax's words as a vicious insult.
Principal Greyfax probably felt the same as soon after livht's response, a storm was brewing behind the old man's eyes.
Licht wisely decided it was time to leave. Staying any longer would only make the old man angrier—and risk something truly unpleasant.
But just as he reached the door, he heard the principal's voice echo behind him.
"Keep your schedule open."
"…P-Pardon?"
"As the top-ranked Slayer cadet, it only makes sense that the principal himself offers one-on-one tutoring."
A threat! That was definitely a threat!
Licht scowled. He saw right through the old man's sugar-coated words—but what could he do?
He could only mutter curses under his breath as he walked away, resigned to his fate.
The door creaked shut behind him.
And somewhere deep in the room, Principal Greyfax was already smiling again.
....
After his meeting with the principal, Licht rejoined the students for the campus tour following the entrance ceremony.
Once Licht arrived, many of the students shot him malicious looks, but he simply ignored them. Even while standing still, he seemed to possess an invisible forcefield that caused the other cadets to subconsciously avoid him.
The academy tour was divided into two faculties, each designed to train students according to their unique abilities.
The Slayer Cadets are taught how to wield mana through a process known as Mana Weaving.
Mana Weaving comes in two primary forms: Body Weaving and World Weaving.
Body Weavers are individuals capable of utilizing only the mana stored and accumulated within their own bodies. They make up the vast majority of mana weavers. While they are limited in the range of their attacks, they compensate with stronger and more resilient physiques.
World Weavers, on the other hand, are often referred to as those blessed by the spirits of the world. Unlike regular mana weavers, they can manipulate the ambient mana present in the air around them. Naturally, because the mana in the world is much greater than what could be stored in the body, World Weavers are capable of unleashing much more devastating levels of damage—but this comes with great risk.
An uncontrolled and novice World Weaver could easily lose control when their emotions get too strong—setting off a miniature natural disaster in the best-case scenario, or worst case having their heads directly explode with their body leaving behind dstruction that was similar to a tactical nuke.
In truth, World Weaving could be just as much a curse as it is a blessing.
Licht had previously been considered a fraud who barely qualified as a mana weaver. Naturally, he wasn't fortunate enough to be a World Weaver, and instead, he belonged to the most common category—Body Weavers.
Sighing at the lack of talent of this body's original owner, Licht followed the tour group through the expansive halls of the Body Weaving Division.
Although they hadn't even reached the main facilities, Licht was already beginning to be impressed, his footsteps echoing softly against the polished alloy floors. The corridor walls pulsed faintly with mana-reactive lighting, an obvious sign of how deeply technology and magic were intertwined in the academy's design.
By now it was clear to see that the reputation of a place known as the greatest academy on the planet wasn't unfounded.
These guys were rich!
Tch! And to think I even felt bad for the old principal after I fleeced him.
As Licht was having these thoughts, he was led to the first of a few training facilities.
The group was led into a place called the GRAB Rooms—short for Gravitational Resistance and Body-training Rooms.
Inside, the new students could see some older cadets training, their muscles bulging with effort as they moved under crushing artificial gravity fields designed to simulate extreme battlefield conditions. As this was happening, sleek mechanical arms descended from the ceilings to add and adjust strange weights mid-session, fine-tuning every workout to the cadet's performance in real time.
"These rooms adapt to each cadet's mana flow and physical output," the guide explained.
"Training here for just an hour is equivalent to days of traditional strength building."
Next to the GRAB Rooms, they passed through the Bio-Excitation Chambers.
The chambers contained tall, capsule-like pods filled with a faintly glowing blue fluid.
Inside, students floated in weightlessness, their bodies subtly pulsing with energy. Instead of repairing wounds, the chambers flooded them with amplified mana frequencies, stimulating their cells into a heightened state of metabolic activity.
Muscles tensed and flexed involuntarily and on level invsisble to the naked eye, fibers thickened, bones densified, and neural pathways lit up with accelerated response patterns.
