The flame disappeared.
And the tunnel split.
No warning. No map. Just a sharp crack in the floor—and suddenly, they were falling.
When the dust cleared…
Lucien, Jonas, and Krane landed hard in one direction.
Mira, Elias, and Dave in the other.
Silence.
No echoes. No voices. Not even the book.
Lucien stood first, brushing dirt off her coat. "Mira?"
Nothing.
Krane looked around, eyes sharp. "Something's wrong."
Jonas groaned. "Ugh. Don't tell me this is another soul maze."
Lucien tried casting a light spell—nothing.
She frowned, tried again. Still nothing.
Then she realized—
No pulse.
No book whisper.
No flame inside her.
"…I can't feel my magic," she muttered.
Krane clenched his fist. "Anti-mage zone. The tomb cut us off."
Jonas stepped back, uneasy. "So what, we're powerless?"
Krane cracked his knuckles. "Nah. Just means we fight like people again."
Lucien narrowed her eyes. "This place… it's testing more than strength."
Cut to:
Mira, Elias, and Dave stumbled down a narrow, damp corridor. Walls dripping. The air thick like breath.
Mira stood up fast, panic in her voice. "Lucien?!"
No reply.
Dave lit his lighter. "No signal. No magic. No shaman link."
Elias glanced around. "This tomb doesn't want power. It wants pain."
Mira clenched her jaw. "It wants us to remember what it means to survive without shortcuts."
Suddenly—
Stone doors slam behind them. From the shadows, figures emerge.
Not ghosts.
Not beasts.
People.
Old warriors, cursed to guard this place. Skin cracked like statues. Eyes dead, but fists ready.
Dave muttered, "They don't look like they wanna talk."
Elias rolled his shoulder. Then let's remind them we can still throw hands.
Mira cracked her neck, stepping forward. "No magic? Fine. Let's see who we are without it."
Cut back to:
Lucien, Krane, and Jonas now surrounded by pillars, each one lighting up with flickering blue flames. In the center three opponents step out. Human. Real. But something's off.
Lucien breathes in deep. "We don't need spells. Just each other."
Krane nods. "Time to earn that breath."
Jonas grins. Finally. Something I can punch.
