Last of the Three Stakes

Day 17 since the last Blood Moon.

The silence hadn't gone away.

The second wall stood strong. Patrols rotated without incident. Ashmaw had taken to sleeping lightly, ears twitching at invisible signals in the soil. And the three main expansion zones — A, B, and now C — each marked critical edges of Riku's growing command.

Today, he stood on a moss-slick ridge above the southern slope, staring at the final Claim Token in his hand.

Smooth obsidroot. A triangle etched with a symbol that glowed faint blue only when held.

He pressed it into the slope.

The token pulsed. Then cracked.

And in seconds, it dissolved into flecks of rootdust and vanished into the earth.

[Claim Token (3/3) — Use Complete]

All system-bound territory extensions deployed. Further growth must be earned or seized.

Riku didn't flinch.

He'd known this was coming.

This third expansion wasn't for open defense like A or resource flow like B.

It was cover.

Dense trees, natural overhangs, and a thick patch of groundmist that never burned off — perfect for building what he called the Blind Hall.

A subterranean fallback structure. Designed to:

Conceal rare Blood Moon materials

Store high-value gear

House a handpicked quick-response unit

Act as command backup in case of headquarters compromise

The first four days saw:

Quiet excavation by root-diver teams

Use of barkstone panels laced with slagline

Floor-set vibration pads to detect movement

By Day 5, the upper chamber was complete.

It was buried, sealed, and left silent.

Just as planned.

Meanwhile, the main headquarters — begun back in Sector A — reached completion.

It spanned a shallow circular clearing ringed by braced bark walls and Lorian-root-grown arches. The core structure had three rings:

The Council Hollow

– A chamber lined with carved mosslight panels

– Echo crystal installed at its center for order transmission

– Tactical map ring with movable rootglyphs

Warbeast Hall

– Ashmaw's domain, complete with two cold-pit dens

– Hooks for chain harnesses and storage for fangbone gear

Resource Vault

– Layered storage for weapons, minerals, Blood Moon salvage, and medicinal caches

– Only accessible by two keys, one held by Riku, one by Thalya

The ceiling was reinforced with iron-laced barksteel and the entryway flanked by two Lorian "root guards" — woven root statues shaped like watchers, each posed as if silently warning intruders.

It was no castle.

But it would hold.
