Echoes of a Fallen Tamer

The vision faded, and with it, the celestial voice dissolved into silence. But Kael's ears still rang with its final command.

His feet found solid ground again. The Trial Chamber—the arena of his awakening—was now an empty shell, its once-blazing symbols cold and dim. Cracks formed beneath his steps as if the ground itself acknowledged the weight of his new burden.

Kael stood alone, but not powerless.

The green aura around him had changed. It no longer lashed out or burned his flesh. It had grown quiet—like a watchful guardian, or a beast tamed by sheer will.

His mark still pulsed on his chest, each throb syncing with his heartbeat.

He stepped outside the ruined temple and was met with the breath of wild wind. Trees bent as if bowing. The sky had taken on a strange hue—an omen of what was coming.

A voice interrupted his moment of calm.

"You're alive."

Kael turned. It was Reika, her white robes torn, blood on her lip, her left arm wrapped in a makeshift sling. Behind her stood Aaren and Juno, both bruised and exhausted. They had fought to protect the temple's outer ring while Kael faced the system's judgment.

Reika's eyes narrowed as she stepped closer. "You awakened... but it wasn't blue or red. That aura... what the hell is green?"

Kael didn't answer immediately. Instead, he held out his palm.

A single blade of grass grew instantly from his hand, twisting and turning like it had a mind of its own. Then it sharpened into a thin needle and flew into a nearby tree, piercing clean through it.

Aaren let out a low whistle. "Nature-type? Elemental manipulation?"

"No," Kael replied. "It's something else. Something older. It's judgment, not just power."

Reika's expression darkened. "Then you've seen the vision too?"

Kael nodded.

The city beyond the Safe Zone. The overgrowth. The flames. The corrupted tamer.

"He was one of us," Reika said grimly. "A top-tier summoner once. But his beast broke free… then something darker took hold. He fused with it. Mind, flesh, and soul. Became a monster."

Kael clenched his fists. "That's my first target."

A sudden tremor shook the earth beneath their feet.

Kael turned toward the horizon. From beyond the trees, a giant shape began to emerge. Not fully visible, but unmistakably massive. Four-legged. Furred. Fanged.

And unnatural.

The air became heavier. Birds fled the canopy. Even the wind turned still.

Reika whispered, "He's already reaching beyond his prison."

Kael's eyes glowed again. "Then I won't wait."

A pulse of green energy surged from his body, forming a circle beneath him. The earth shifted—responding. In seconds, roots emerged, wrapping around his boots like armor. Leaves spiraled into the air and hardened, forming shoulder pads and gauntlets.

Aaren gasped. "You're turning the forest into your gear."

Kael's voice was calm. "It listens now."

The Chose

n had been marked.

And now, he was ready to strike.
