Chapter 8

I hate mornings. Especially when I have to wake up with an alarm ringing continuously in my ear at 4:00 in the morning. Yeah, my life sucks. My whole body feel relaxed, a contrast to the soreness I'm used to in the moonbeam pack and I don't know if it's because this is my first time sleeping on a bed, but I never want to get up. Again.

That is until the duvet was yanked off my body and an already dressed Mara loomed over me. " Agatha will be so mad if you arrive late on your first day".

At the mention of the stern old woman name, I jumped off the bed. I felt disoriented for a moment confused on what to do. Do I go bath first or go meet her first? It's 4:23 already.

My decision were already made tho when Mara threw a pair of blue jeans and black top on the bed. " That should do for now". She eyed me up to down , nodding her head ' although I think the top will be a little tight for you. Your boobs are bigger".

My hands makes my way to cover my chest instinctively and she laughed, playfully swatting me " It was just a comment".

I laughed nonheartedly, hating the way I had reacted. I was made fun of at the moonbeam pack, everything about me was made fun of. Down to my body and it made me feel so insecure about myself.

" 4:28, you're gonna make Agatha real mad, Elyssa".

That got me in action immediately, quickly grabbing the clothes and muttering a small ' thank you' to Mara before dashing into the bathroom to change.

" 5 minutes late. I don't tolerate tardiness, girl". The stern face of Agatha stared down at me like I'd just insulted her ancestors. Her eyes were sharp, cold, and absolutely unforgiving, and her mouth was pressed into a thin line that makes her look even scarier.

I straightened instinctively, clutching the hem of my top like it might shield me. "I–I'm sorry, I didn't know—"

"No excuses." Her voice sliced through mine. "You're here now, and that's all that matters. But don't let it happen again. Ever."

She turned without another word, her posture stiff and perfect, clearly expecting me to follow.

I scrambled after her, my heart thudding awkwardly in my chest. Welcome to day one, I guess.

" The duties have been shared equally to all workers here and i see no reason why we need an additional worker it's the Alpha order so there is no choice but to create space for you". She stopped in her tracks turning to face me. " You're to report to me everyday, 4:30 am and finish work by 8:pm. If you're late, even by 1 minutes, you work extra time". Her eyebrow perched up, as if to ask me if I understood. I nodded

" Your duty first thing in the morning is to clean the Alpha room". Wait, what? " The Alpha usually wake up 4:50 am and head to the bahroom at 5 on dot. He'll be there for 30 minutes and that's when you'll clean his room. Be careful not to run into him, he's more cranky than usual in the morning. After that, you'll serve him breakfast at 6:30am in his room or study . His breakfast, lunch and dinner is your responsibility now. He's not mostly home for lunch but when he is, he's to be served 2pm . Dinner for him is 7pm. And remember, Alpha Kaelith does not tolerate tardiness".

My throat felt dry by the time she finished speaking, but I forced myself to nod again, even though my mind was spinning. Clean the Alpha's room? Serve him all his meals? Is death really calling my name this time? Oh, moon goddess!! And with the way she emphasized not running into him, I couldn't tell if it was fear or experience speaking.

Agatha gave me one last glance, her eyes narrowing slightly like she was still deciding whether I'd survive the week. "When you're not busy, you can choose to join either Mara or Yuri. They'll put you to work, so don't think of it as free time. There's always something to be done here—don't wait for someone to remind you." With that, she turned again and marched down the hall, her heels clicking like a ticking clock I was now tied to.

Great...I didn't even get to ask where the Alpha room is and it's 4:54 already
