Chapter 15

" Ouch". I winced, trying to withdraw my hand but Agatha grip tightened and she gave me the stink eyes before continuing jabing the soaked cotton wool on my wound.

" Are you a kid? How could you be so careless". She scolds me " You're lucky there's a first aid here, If not you'll have to go to the pack house to get treated. And let me tell you, Dr Lucille will not be so nice".

" I'm sorry". Tears welled in my eyes again and I lowered my head in shame. I can't believe I let myself be distracted like this. If this had happened in moonbeam pack.., Alpha Bastian would have pierce my skin with the same glass that cut me.

Her grip on my soften and so does her tone " I know the Alpha can be scary most times —i understand that, child but he won't hurt you. I've worked in this household for years but I don't think I can recall a time where the Alpha laid his hands on any of the worker".

That made me relieved, a little. Until it crossed my mind that I'm not like other workers here. After all I am a captive from an enemy pack—thats all I am. But I smile none the less as I watched her carefully place a small bandage on it.

" I'll serve the Alpha today — but that is the only break you get. Tomorrow, you'll return to your duties, clear?".

" Yes ma'am".

She nodded in approval before whipping away and in seconds, she was gone. Leaving me alone in the empty room. Mara is still working and definitely can't keep me company now so I guess I just have to really rest.

.

.

Ok...no, this can't do. I jumped off the bed, grabbing my worn out boot from the side. It's just a little injury—its nothing compared to the everyday bruises I get in the past and ptffft, I still worked without break.

I opened the door quietly, scared at first that Agatha's face will pop up, telling me off. But with my eyes scanning the area, I figured out she won't, so I closed the door behind me—still quietly, before making a run for it .

I was just about to make the left turn that leads to the main house when my body collided with a soft one.

" Ooof".

From the yelp, I instantly knew it was a 'she' —that is if the soft body wasn't an indicator already.

" Are you ok?". I reached out to her , helping the little lady up. Her red hair which was flowing around, covered the half part of her face so I couldn't really tell who it was.

" Yeah, I'm fine, sorry". She finally tucked her fiery hair behind her ear and smiled shyly at me . " I was looking around for you".

Oh!

It's her— the girl from the cell. Or should I say Beta Ryan's mate .

I smiled back, taking her hands in mine " I'm really glad you're ok. I thought I'd never see you again". Her blue doe eyes seems more alive than it did when I first saw her.

" I never got to thank you for that day. I would've died if it wasn't for you". Although she looked timid, her eyes held a deep sense of gratitude that told me how sincere she really is and I was about to reply her when I heard Agatha's voice. And it seems like she was coming in this direction.

Shit .

Without thinking, I grabbed her hand and took off with her, running back into the servant quarters.

I slammed the door shut behind us before I realized what I just did. Wait, did I just drag a beta female with me...I ...a common omega?

However, the small giggle that broke out from her had me taken aback. " That was exciting".

Oooookkkk, I think we might get along just fine...

_Alpha Kaelith _

No matter how hard he tried to, the Alpha couldn't concentrate on the single document in front of him. He just couldn't. His eyes kept drifting to the ticking clock in the corner of his study and no matter how much he denied it, he knew what he was waiting for.

Or rather —who.

"Have mornings always been this slow?" He couldn't help but ask himself .

6:58pm

Does it takes really long for the damn clock to move? He hadn't seen her since the incident earlier in the morning. Agatha had served him in the morning instead of the girl and he couldn't bring himself to ask of her or about her injury. It'll be unheard of —him worried over a mere servant, one that isn't even a pack member.

But his wolf have been restless since morning —well, he's always restless—without reason but this time, he has been full on pacing. There is no logical explanation as to why he is feeling this way over...her. If there was a mate bond —not that he ever believes the moon goddess will grant him one but if hypothetically it was a mate bond, then his wolf would have recognized it.

So if it isn't it, then what is this? Witchcraft? Did she perhaps cast a spell on him?

Before his thoughts go go any further, a knock cane from the door. He cleared his throat before muttering a quick 'come in'.

The door opened and instead of the light smell of jasmine mixed with something that smell like rain, his nose picked up Agatha's scent.

Disappointed, he grumbled, flipping the page of the document he definitely didn't read, aggressively. He watched as Agatha set up the dishes in the corner where it's always left before she faced him and smiled at him. ," Don't let you dinner get cold , dear. You should work when it's work time and eat when it's food time". She nagged, making his mouth twitch in what is suppose to be a smile.

" I'll keep that in mind, Agatha". Agatha has been a sort of permanent presence in his life since childhood. She literally raised him as he lost his mother when he was barely 3 months old. To him, she's more than just an nanny his father hired. She's the closest person to him as family.

She was about to leave when he suddenly called her back " Agatha".

" Yes, child?".

He cleared his throat awkwardly, his hand clenching and unclenching " How's she? — the girl".

Agatha looked at his cold face, surprised and she couldn't help but wonder if he would have turned out differently if he hadn't experienced so much pain as he grew up.

She smiled before answering " She's fine. Thankfully, it was just a small cut".
