Chapter 8

I never expected Ken to be so persistent. Every morning when I opened my door, I'd find rare herbs and fresh kills waiting on the doorstep.

These were all Ken's handiwork. He believed that as long as Ryker and I weren't truly mated, he still had a chance.

"Give me one more opportunity to win your heart." Ryker picked up the note Ken had left and coldly tore it to shreds.

From that moment on, Ken was blacklisted from the penthouse, unable to set foot in the building again. But he found other ways to express his affection.

As night fell, Ken would howl outside my window, a lonely, mournful sound, declaring his love for all to hear.

I felt as if Ken had become a different person. It was hard to connect this version of him with the cold image I remembered.

This belated passion meant nothing to me. Why was he even bothering?

Without a backward glance, I pulled the curtains shut, blocking out his cries and the sound that echoed through the city.
