"Sterling, what have you done?"  I whispered, my voice trembling.  "He was just asking for help!"

My stepbrother's eyes, usually a deep emerald green, now glowed with predatory amber as he shifted partially back from his wolf form.  His breathing was heavy, primal.

"He was too close to you, Aurora.  His scent was all over you."  Sterling's voice was eerily calm as he wiped blood from his hands onto his dark jeans.  "No man approaches what's mine."

Mine.  That word made my skin crawl.  I wasn't his.  I was his stepsister, not his possession.

Chapter 19 - Forbidden Temptation, Dangerous Game


His lips were a breath away from mine, and I could already feel myself drowning in his scent. That familiar cologne mixed with something purely Sterling – dangerous, masculine, and terrifyingly intoxicating.


"Please," I whispered, my voice barely audible even to myself. "Don't."


Sterling's eyes darkened. "Don't what, Aurora? Don't kiss you again?" His thumb traced my lower lip, sending unwelcome tingles down my spine. "Don't show you what we both know is inevitable?"


I shook my head, tears threatening to spill. "This isn't right. You know it isn't."


"Right and wrong are such... limiting concepts." His fingers trailed down my neck, making my pulse jump traitorously. "What feels right to me is you. It's always been you."


My back pressed against the wall as I tried to create distance between us. But Sterling followed, his body caging me in. The heat radiating from him was overwhelming.
