Chapter 61

Chapter 61 - An Alpha's Grand Design: Roses, Regrets, and a Maldivian Escape

I clutched my purse tightly against my chest, standing frozen outside the doctor's office. My fingers automatically reached for my neck, searching for the familiar weight of the tracking necklace Kaelen insisted I wear at all times.

It wasn't there.

Oh God.

My stomach dropped as panic coursed through my body. I'd taken it off before my doctor's appointment, not wanting to explain why I wore a tracking device. Now it sat in my purse's side pocket, unworn for over an hour.

"No, no, no," I whispered, fumbling to retrieve it. My hands shook so badly I nearly dropped it twice before finally clasping it around my neck.

Too late.

The damage was done. Kaelen would know I'd removed it. He monitored the signal constantly.

I checked my phone. Five missed calls and twelve text messages, each growing increasingly demanding:

*Where are you?*

*Why isn't your necklace active?*

*Answer me NOW.*
