Chapter 86: A Game of Wills and an Alpha's Resolve
"You think this is all a game to you," I snapped, gripping the door handle of his car. My pulse raced despite my best efforts to stay calm.
Lucian leaned closer, his dark eyes reflecting the moonlight. "I'm not playing games anymore, Aria. I'm dead serious about you."

"You're not a toy." His gaze softened. "You never were."
I laughed harshly. "Tell that to the Lucian who humiliated me in front of everyone. The one who made sure I knew I wasn't good enough to be his mate."
He flinched at my words. Good. Let him feel a fraction of the pain he'd caused me.
"I was wrong," he said quietly. "And I'll spend every day proving it to you if that's what it takes."
"I'm not some prize to be won, Lucian. I'm a person with feelings—feelings you crushed without a second thought."
