Chapter 96

Chapter 96: Pre-Party Nerves and a Dress for a Bad Boy

I leaned against the wall of the university gymnasium, watching Caleb run drills with his teammates. His movements were fluid and precise—each pass, each shot calculated. The final match was in two days, and I could see the determination etched on his face.

"You're getting better at those three-pointers," I called out when they took a break.

Caleb jogged over, his dark hair damp with sweat. He grabbed a towel and wiped his face. "Thanks for coming, Aria. Means a lot."

"Of course. I wouldn't miss your practice."

His eyes softened as he looked at me, and I felt that familiar twist of guilt in my stomach. Caleb had been nothing but kind to me since day one. He deserved someone who could love him completely.

"So," he said, taking a swig from his water bottle. "Any plans tonight?"

I hesitated. "Actually, I'm going to Lucian's birthday party."
