Chapter 69: Cafeteria Violence and a Courageous Stand

"I honestly don't know why he's bothering me, Caleb," I said, staring down at my untouched lunch. The cafeteria buzzed with the usual midday chaos around us, but I felt isolated in my frustration. "I'm just so tired of it."

My shoulders slumped as I pushed my tray away. The constant tension of watching for Lucian, wondering when he'd next appear to torment me, was draining me completely.

"He's been following you, cornering you," Caleb's face hardened as he leaned closer. "That's harassment, Aria. You shouldn't have to live like this."

Vivienne, sitting across from us, studied my face with concern. She'd barely touched her salad, too focused on our conversation.

"You know," she said thoughtfully, twirling her fork, "maybe what you need is a boyfriend."

I nearly choked on my water. "What?"
