Chapter 47: A New Home and an Old Rivalry's Shadow

I sat at the cafeteria table, surrounded by my friends as lunchtime chatter filled the air around us. The plastic chair dug into my back where those branching marks had spread, but I tried to ignore the discomfort.

"So, your mom's wedding is this weekend?" Vivienne asked, leaning forward with excitement dancing in her eyes. "Tell me everything about the dress!"

I smiled, grateful for the distraction from my werewolf problems. "It's beautiful. Simple but elegant—ivory satin with delicate lace overlay. She looks absolutely radiant in it."

"I bet," Caleb said, taking a bite of his sandwich. His warm eyes met mine. "Are we invited to this grand event?"

"Of course," I replied, nudging his arm playfully. "You guys are practically family."

Debra grinned. "I can't wait to see Diana so happy. She deserves this after everything."
