Chapter 159

Chapter 159: A Lie Heard, A Trust Demolished

### Lucian's POV

"I just got it fixed."

Aria's voice through the phone sounded light, casual. I gripped the phone tighter, my jaw clenched as I stared at the tablet in Sloane's hand. The live video feed showed Aria sitting in a coffee shop—not the library she'd just claimed—with Finn hovering beside her, his hand on her wrist.

"Where are you right now?" I kept my voice steady, even as rage built inside me.

"Just at the library," she answered without hesitation. "Working on that paper for Professor Martin's class."

Each word pierced me like a knife. On the screen, Finn was gesturing for her to be quiet about him. And she was listening, lying directly to my face. To me—her mate.

"The library," I repeated, watching her shift uncomfortably on the screen. "All by yourself?"

I wanted to give her one more chance. One more opportunity to tell me the truth.

"Yeah, just me and my books. How's the meeting going?"
