Chapter 16: A Phone Call and a Brother's Questions

## Aria's POV

I couldn't believe I was actually following Lucian and Gareth through the pack house. Every step felt like torture. My wolf, who had been dormant for days after the rejection, was now howling inside me, desperate to be near her mate. I hated how my body betrayed me this way.

We walked past several corridors adorned with fancy artwork. The Midnight Sun Pack house was truly magnificent—much nicer than the small cottage Mom and I lived in at the edge of pack territory.

"So, Aria," Gareth said, breaking the awkward silence, "I heard your eighteenth birthday is coming up soon. Any special plans?"

I shook my head. "Nothing special. Just dinner with my mom."

"Eighteenth, huh?" Gareth smiled. "That's a big one for werewolves."

"Why do you care about her birthday?" Lucian snapped, glaring at his friend.
