Chapter 127: A Flight from Heartbreak and a Tragic Twist of Fate
### Aria's POV
The maids' excited chatter echoed through the hallway outside my bedroom door.
"Did you hear? Alpha Lucian is returning tomorrow, and he'll be announcing his Luna pick!" one squealed.
"I heard she's gorgeous. An Alpha's daughter from the Silver Moon Pack," another replied.
I curled deeper into my bed, pulling the covers over my head as if they could shield me from their words. Three days had passed since I learned about Lucian's arranged marriage, and I hadn't left my room except to use the bathroom.
My wolf whimpered inside me, a constant ache that mirrored the hollow feeling in my chest. She was suffering as much as I was, mourning our rejected mate bond.
A gentle knock came at my door. "Aria? I brought you some soup," my mother called.
I didn't answer. I couldn't face her concern, her pity. The door opened anyway, and I felt the bed dip as she sat beside me.
