I had changed the locks on our estate and hadn't told him.
The cold autumn mist swirling outside seemed to match his mood.
He shouldered past me and slumped onto the sofa, glaring at me with open hostility.
"Jacqueline, do you have anything to say for yourself?"
I looked at him, genuinely confused.
He slammed his fist on the coffee table, his anger barely contained.
"What did you say to my mother earlier today?
"She called and tore into me.
"I had no idea you'd started running to the Elders to complain about me."
Hearing this, I couldn't help but laugh.
"What do you think you have done that would warrant a complaint?"
"Are you talking about the voice that interrupted our meeting with the other Alphas?" I asked coolly.
"Or are you talking about the nights you spend at another she-wolf's villa?"
My words made his face darken instantly.
"Jacqueline, you're the one being unreasonable."
Perhaps the mockery in my eyes was too much for him, because he clenched his fists.
