In a flash of brilliant white light, Karnel materialized on the surface of Planet Namek.
His arrival placed him at the edge of a small Namekian village, home to perhaps a hundred inhabitants. All around him, green-skinned Namekians went about their daily routines, tending crops, repairing dwellings, and communing with one another, oblivious to the significance of his sudden appearance.
Karnel took a moment to absorb his surroundings. The peaceful Namekians had never used their Dragon Balls to dominate the universe or amass power. Instead, they preferred to maintain their tranquil existence on this lush world, cultivating harmony among their people and with nature itself.
"Outsider, what business do you have with our people?" A young Namekian approached, his expression wary but not hostile.
"I've come to speak with your Elders about a matter of great importance," Karnel replied calmly. "I mean no harm to your people."
"The Elder is resting," the Namekian responded, folding his arms across his chest. "I cannot allow you to disturb him." His stance shifted subtly to block Karnel's path, clearly prepared to defend against any unwelcome intrusion.
"This concerns a grave threat to Namekian existence," Karnel explained, maintaining his composure. I'm not exaggerating, he thought. In just a few decades, Frieza will come to this planet and bring it to the brink of destruction.
"You're... lying." The Namekian hesitated, uncertainty creeping into his voice.
At that moment, another Namekian approached from the distance, younger, but carrying himself with the unmistakable confidence of a warrior.
Karnel observed the newcomer with interest. Based on his bearing and the energy signature he projected, this Namekian likely possessed a combat power around 20,000, impressive by most standards, though merely a fraction of Karnel's own strength.
"Danei," the young warrior called out as he landed, "the Grand Elder wishes to see this visitor."
"Very well," Danei replied, clearly surprised by the pronouncement. "I'll return to my duties. Outsider, this is Nail, our most capable warrior. Follow him to the Elder's dwelling." With that, he resumed his work in the fields.
"Come with me," Nail instructed curtly, ascending into the air without checking whether Karnel followed. His manner was cold, bordering on hostile.
'Arrogant, aren't we? Karnel thought irritably. If it weren't for my respect for the Namekian people and my mission here, I'd teach you some humility.' Nevertheless, he followed the warrior without comment, matching his flight speed effortlessly.
They soon arrived at an enormous structure that seemed to grow organically from the landscape, its design unlike anything found on Earth despite being clearly artificial.
"Enter alone," Nail commanded, taking up position outside the entrance. "The Grand Elder awaits."
Stepping inside the cavernous dwelling, Karnel found himself in the presence of an enormous Namekian seated upon a massive throne. The Grand Elder's eyes were closed in apparent meditation, but as Karnel approached, they slowly opened.
"I see you, visitor from beyond," the Grand Elder's voice resonated throughout the chamber, deep and ancient. "Your soul vibrates differently from those of our universe. I know why you have come."
The Elder's mysterious power, the ability to perceive past and future events, was legendary, and Karnel couldn't help but feel a twinge of envy for such a gift.
"If you can perceive that I'm from outside this world, then perhaps you can tell me is there a way for me to return to my original reality?" Despite having prepared himself for this journey, Karnel still harbored hope that the wise Namekian might offer insight on returning to his home dimension.
"That... I cannot see," the Grand Elder replied slowly. "Your future is shrouded from my vision. I can only perceive that you will play a role in the coming crisis that threatens our people."
Disappointment flickered across Karnel's face, but he quickly composed himself. "I understand. Grand Elder, I know you possess the ability to unlock hidden potential within individuals. Would you be willing to perform this service for me?"
"Approach, outsider," the Elder commanded, seeming to find the request reasonable.
Karnel stepped forward until he stood directly before the massive throne. The Grand Elder extended one enormous green hand, wrinkled with age, and placed it gently atop Karnel's head.
Immediately, Karnel felt an extraordinary force surge from deep within his core, as if a floodgate had been opened to release power that had always existed inside him but remained dormant until this moment.
His combat power skyrocketed:
Six million... Seven million... Nine and a half million...
The energy continued to build relentlessly.
Nine point nine nine million...
Ten million!
"Outsider," the Grand Elder spoke, his voice seeming distant through the rush of power flooding Karnel's consciousness, "the potential within you is like a bottomless well. I have only managed to unlock a small fraction of what lies dormant within you."
Karnel barely registered the Elder's words. Upon reaching ten million combat power, every cell in his body seemed to awaken simultaneously. A primal energy surged through him, not exactly anger, but an overwhelming force seeking expression.
Recognizing the danger to those around him, Karnel summoned his remaining control and launched himself away from the Elder's dwelling, flying tens of kilometers in mere seconds.
The energy within him grew increasingly golden, and Karnel felt his distinctly Saiyan black hair shifting, alternating between its natural state and something new, as if it were meant to be golden from birth.
With a roar that tore from his throat unbidden, an unprecedented explosion of energy burst forth from Karnel's body, sweeping across the entire planet of Namek.
His form became enveloped in golden flames, his hair transformed to a brilliant blonde, and his eyes shifted to a piercing emerald green.
Super Saiyan!
"So it's true," Karnel marveled, examining his transformed state with wonder. "Once a Saiyan surpasses the critical threshold of ten million combat power, the transformation occurs naturally, multiplying strength fifty-fold without requiring anger as a catalyst. My combat power now exceeds five hundred million. Frieza and his father King Cold would be nothing but insects before me."
He clenched his fists, feeling the violent energy coursing through his body, eager to be tested against a worthy opponent.
Across the galaxy on King Kai's planet, the Northern Kai suddenly staggered backward, his antennae trembling violently as he detected the massive power surge.
"This... this terrifying energy is many times stronger than Frieza himself! How could a being more powerful than the Emperor suddenly appear in the Northern Galaxy?" The blue-skinned deity fell to his knees in shock, beads of sweat forming on his brow.
"Stronger than Frieza? Ha... haha... HAHAHA!" King Kai's initial horror gave way to slightly hysterical laughter as he pounded the ground. "What a delightful joke!"
In the Sacred Realm of the Kais, the Eastern Supreme Kai gazed through a crystal orb at Karnel's transformation on Namek. "After a thousand years, a new Super Saiyan has emerged, more powerful than any before... but why does this Saiyan feel somehow familiar to me?"
For ten minutes, waves of golden energy pulsed through Namek's atmosphere, visible even from space as concentric rings expanding outward from Karnel's position.
Finally, having gained mastery over his new form, Karnel allowed the transformation to subside. His hair returned to its natural black, and the golden aura faded as he flew back toward the Grand Elder's dwelling. The Namekians he passed on his return journey stared in open horror, having felt the terrifying power he had unleashed.
"Grand Elder," Karnel said with genuine contrition as he re-entered the massive structure, "I apologize for the disturbance. Now, if I may, I would like to request the use of Namek's Dragon Balls."
