Six days had passed since Bruno came to inspect the validity of Damons claim and now he was back to place and pick up orders.
He bought one hundred sets of glassware priced at a total price of two thousand eight hundred gold coins. He also picked up three steam engines worth three hundred gold coins each plus ten gold and fifty silver coins for the installation, bringing the total amount to three thousand seven hundred and fifty gold coins plus fifty silver coins.
This was actually the first sale that he had ever made in this era and it felt nice.
Three days later, Damon met with another envoy from the southern region, by this time word had spread about the mystery clear glass and it was a matter of time before he could no longer keep up with orders.
The envoy he was meeting was a vassal of the Kalispell family , Lord Felix.
" Greetings Lord Damon, I am Felix vassal to Duke von Kalispell. He has sent me here to purchase a batch of glass products." Felix said.
" Of course, how many pieces are you looking to purchase ?"
" All of them", Felix said casually .
" That is not a small amount Lord Felix, are you sure you'll be able to handle it ?" Damon asked , " infact do you know how many it will amount to and are you ready to deal with the other people who will start pinning for your possession."
" With all due respect Lord Damon, I think you should just focus on selling the glass to us , leave other matters. So how many are available we are willing to pay any amount." Felix replied.
" I can confidently sell you up to five thousand sets of glassware at a total price of 45000 gold." Damon said.
" Good , in that case I will pick up the five thousand sets and place an order for another five thousand sets to be picked up next week."
As Felix was about to leave, Damon called out to him,
" Pardon me Lord Felix, have you been informed about our steam engine ? " Damon asked and then led Felix to see the steam engines in action.
When the show was over , Felix went over to the machine which was now shut down and touched it.
" This is steel, high grade steel . How is this possible?" Felix asked , visibly surprised.
" I created a device that enables me to turn iron ingots into steel in large quantities." Damon replied.
" Is it for sale?"
" No the device is not for sale but the steel is."
Felix eventually took the glassware he had purchased and left. It would take him about two weeks to safely transport the goods to the southern region and when he gets there, he would report all that he had found out.
After three months, the income from the glass had stabilized, he had made at least two hundred thousand gold coins from the glass alone. As for the steam engine, it's sales was still in the low thousands and this was perhaps from the Dukes of Wolfsburg and Kalispell keeping the steam engine as a close card and refusing to expose its existence and only buying when they needed to upgrade any of their production capabilities.
It was a very brilliant tactics, by shielding technology from other regions they could make sure that their region grows faster than the others but Damon couldn't have that, he needed for technology to spread throughout this world in order to make it more bearable for him to live in.
With the stability of the glass and steam factories, Damon decided to plunge into another industry, to make sure the world becomes curious about his technology.
He decided to enter the ship building industry. This time he was building a steam ship from scratch.
The town of Hankook was already connected to a beach so building a ship yard and a dock was quite possible.
But before he could do that , he needed some materials so he began buying up limestone and gypsum in very high quantities .
At the rate which he was buying both materials, their price began rising rapidly. Limestone which was sold for ten silver coins per ton had risen to thirty silver per ton and gypsum which was one silver per ton had risen to a staggering seven silver coins per ton.
This possed a great issue for the blacksmiths who use limestone as a catalyst for removing impurities from metals and the masons who used gypsum to make mortar which was used in constructing buildings.
The gypsum and the limestone that were being hoarded by Damon was mixed with iron powder and graphite to produce cement.
Before he could start thinking of selling this cement, he needed to secure his investments.
Hankook which was the region given to Damon by the Duke was a small village of about with a land mass of one square kilometer or one hundred hecters of land. It was connected to the sea and also had a two hundred meters wide river flowing through it. It also had a population of five hundred, mostly subsistence farmers and fishermen. This was going to be where his factories and offices would be built, this was the headquarters of Blackfire incorporated and he needed to secure it before he could focus on anything.
The first fifty tonnes of cement that was produced was set aside for the construction of the wall and the pier.
According to his calculations, with one thousand men, having accounted for their specialties and logistics it would take approximately five months to complete, six months if there was unpredictable weather.
During the construction, only seven hundred men were readily available and had not been assigned to any factory. So Damon had to get volunteers from the guards and village residents in exchange for a few .
For five months and four days the workers toiled hard, working ten hours days with a break in between. To uplift their spirits, Damon made sure to provide well cooked meals for them everyday.
The steam concrete mixers were also responsible for alleviating the work load from the workers.
The wall, the large wooden gate covered with steel and the pier all cost about ten thousand gold coins, a chunk of his earnings ans this includes both materials cost and the cost of paying wages.
Very soon , word would spread and the greed that controls humanity would force them to buy.
