Unmasking Betrayal
Vyr stammered, his throat dry. "I—I—" He swallowed hard, his gaze darting to Nyxoria.
"If he doesn't talk in the next one second, you can remove one of his ears and eye." Nyxoria said, her tone void of emotion, "You can take one of his ears and an eye."
Tharros, who had been waiting for her command, stepped forward, his shadows curling around his fingers like hungry serpents.
"I don’t know what the leaf is called, but I was given it to put in your food!" Vyr blurted out, his voice steadier now, knowing hesitation would cost him his life.
Nyxoria crossed her arms. "Who gave it to you?"
Vyr hesitated for only a moment before sighing in defeat. "Oberon. He was the one who gave me the whisperleaf and instructed me to put it in your food. But since I had no business in the kitchen, and it would have looked suspicious if I was always seen hovering around your food, I gave it to Mary. That way, you wouldn’t suspect anything."
