CHAPTER 11 - HIS DANGEROUS PROPOSAL

Chapter Eleven: His Dangerous Proposal

As days turned into weeks and weeks into months, something in Ethan Kang began to shift.

He didn't know when it started—perhaps it was the day she cried herself to sleep on his bed, or the day she refused to take her medicine and still looked so stubbornly beautiful—but one thing was certain:

He couldn't stop thinking about her.

At first, he told himself it was just because she knew too much. She was a threat. But no matter how hard he tried to stay cold, his heart betrayed him. Slowly, unknowingly, Ethan was falling for the very woman he once thought of as nothing more than a problem.

Haera, still held captive, refused to break. She clung to the hope that one day she'd escape and be reunited with her mother. Her spirit didn't waver, and neither did her mother's efforts. Mrs. Park never stopped searching for her daughter. She never gave up.

Now completely obsessed, Ethan made a decision: he would marry Haera.

If he couldn't let her go, he'd keep her forever.

But to do that, he'd need to face the woman who raised her.

And Ethan Kang never did anything halfway.

---

Early one morning, before he left for the Park Group, Ethan decided to check on Haera. When he entered her room, he found her lying quietly on the bed, tears streaming down her face.

She didn't move. She didn't speak.

Without a word, Ethan walked slowly to her, pulled a handkerchief from his breast pocket, and gently lifted her upright. Haera's hatred toward him had grown by the day, and the sight of him made her flinch. She pushed his hands away in anger, but this time, he didn't retaliate.

He just stood there.

"Why won't you let me go?" she asked, her voice cracking through the silence. "Why are you doing this to me?"

Ethan's expression remained unreadable. "I can't… and I won't. But don't worry. Everything will be over soon. I'll give you your freedom."

Haera's heart skipped. "How? Tell me. What do you mean?"

"You'll know very soon," he said, and without another word, he turned and left, tightening security on his way out. He didn't want her escaping before their wedding.

---

Later that day, Ethan and his assistant Jace arrived at the Park Group headquarters. The moment he stepped into the building, employees froze. Everyone knew Ethan Kang. He was a man people feared, respected, and dared not cross.

They parted like the Red Sea, and Ethan walked through with the poise of a king.

After asking an employee for directions, they found Mrs. Park's office. Despite her instructions not to let anyone in, the guards opened the door immediately. They, too, feared Ethan Kang.

Inside, Mrs. Park looked up and froze. Her chest tightened.

"Mr. Kang?" she whispered, her hands trembling.

Without waiting to be invited, Ethan sat down in the plush chair in the middle of her office while Jace remained standing beside him. His presence was overwhelming.

"Errh, Mr. Kang… may I know what brings you here?" Mrs. Park asked, her voice shaking.

Ethan leaned forward and said it plainly: "Haera is with me."

The words hit her like a thunderbolt.

She staggered and almost collapsed to the floor. "W-What did you just say? My daughter… she's with you? No—it's not possible!"

"She's safe," he said simply. "You'll see her soon."

Mrs. Park was already crying when Ethan pulled out his phone and showed her photos of Haera.

"Now listen carefully," he continued. "Mother-in-law—yes, that's what I'll call you from now on—I'm going to marry your daughter. Next week."

Mrs. Park gasped.

"I came here to inform you as custom demands. Whether you like it or not, she'll be mine."

"No! I won't allow it!" she shouted, springing to her feet. "You'll ruin her! You're cruel, heartless—you'll destroy her. You're just doing this to torture her!"

"I don't care who you are or how rich you are," she continued, her voice trembling. "I will never let you marry my daughter!"

Ethan stood calmly, brushing imaginary dust from his coat. "Well, Mrs. Park… if that's your choice, then prepare to never see your daughter again. I intended to give her freedom after the wedding, but now—now I know better."

He turned toward the door.

But her voice stopped him. "Wait!"

Ethan turned around.

"If I agree… will you treat her well?" Mrs. Park asked. "Will you allow me to see her?"

Ethan's eyes locked on hers. "I never break my promises. After the wedding, you'll speak to her again. And I swear—I won't hurt her."

There was silence.

Painful silence.

Mrs. Park sank back into her chair, defeated and broken. She loved her daughter too much to risk losing her forever. And if this was the only way to see her again...

She would agree—even if it killed her.
