Chapter 2

I was watching my wonderful husband as he was getting ready for work, what can I say about my husband except that he is exceptionally wonderful.

Nathan has worked really hard to provide for the life that we have right now, it’s safe to say that nobody believed in him nor in our marriage.

Considering that Nathan and I got married at the age of 18.

We have been married for eight years and in truth these have been the happiest years of my life!

There isn’t a single promise that Nathan made to me and hasn’t fulfilled it,

I have a happy marriage and that’s all that matters to me.

“Baby, don’t forget that we are meeting my family tonight for dinner.”

My husband reminded me softly, I groaned.

“Do we have too? You know what your mother will say as soon as she sees me.”

My husband came to sit on my side of the bed and held my face in his hands.

“Everything I am is because you are here, my life is perfect because I have you!

And there’s nothing in the world that could ever change that, like I said when we got married,

we don’t need to have children till you’re ready.

Remember baby we’re still in our twenties and if she brings it up again, I will address it.”

He kissed my forehead .

As I looked into Nathan’s eyes, I felt a surge of love and gratitude towards him. He always knew exactly what to say to make me feel better.

I smiled, feeling a sense of reassurance wash over me.

“Okay, I’ll try to be brave tonight,” I said, leaning into his kiss.

Nathan chuckled and wrapped his arms around me, pulling me close.

“You’re always brave, my love,” he whispered. “And I’ll be right there by your side, as always.”

I felt a sense of comfort and security in his arms,

and I knew that as long as we were together, we could face anything that came our way.

As we pulled back, Nathan glanced at his watch and stood up.

“I’m running late,” he said, giving me a quick kiss on the cheek. “I’ll see you tonight, okay?”

I nodded, watching as he grabbed his bag and headed out the door. I smiled to myself, feeling grateful for this life we’d built together.

But as I turned to get ready for the day, I couldn’t shake off the feeling of unease that had settled in my stomach.

Nathan’s mother had never been my biggest fan, and I knew that tonight’s dinner was going to be a challenge.

My day went by quickly and it was time for dinner with my husband’s family.

We had to come separately and sweet as he is even though he arrived first, he waited for me outside.

“ Did you wait for long?”

I asked as he approached my car to open my door.

“I just got here.”

He murmured as he helped me out of the car.

“You look so gorgeous tonight, you make me want to skip dinner and head straight for dessert.”

He said while biting his lips.

“Baby stop!”

He took my hand and we went inside the house.

The house smelled so good because of the food, my husband and I went into the living room.

Finding a very mad Mrs. Cullen

“You’re late.”

My husband hugged her.

“Hello to you too, mother.”

She looked at me and then she glared at me..

We sat down at the table, the conversation was mostly flowing but I just kept quiet.

“So when are you planning to give me a grandchild? Or is that too hard for you?”

Mrs. Cullen spat.

“Mother don’t start!”

My husband cut in.

“What!? I just want to know! She hasn’t done anything in this marriage so the least she could do is give you a child, or are her things not functioning.”

She started laughing, along with Mr. Cullen.

Nathan was pissed now.

“I have had enough of this! Has it ever crossed your mind that she might not be the problem?

Have you considered that we have actually tried for a child but had miscarriage?

You say that she hasn’t done anything for this marriage, how do you know? Are you there 24/7?”

I grabbed his hand to try and calm him down.

“This house that you live in, has it ever crossed your mind why you got it? It’s because of her!

The stores you buy clothes from she’s the one who takes care of those bills,

that black card you like flashing to your friends so much,

was for her! But she told me to give it to you! Because her having me was enough,

when she’s here you treat her like a damn maid! She’s not your maid! She’s, my wife!”

He screamed.

“Well you should have married someone of your class!”

She screamed right back at him.

“Don’t forget that you look like this because of her, all these fancy things are because of her! You’re still poor as how you have always been, you may brag about how successful I am but don’t forget that it’s not your tears,

sacrifices and sleepless nights that got me here, I wasn’t crazy when I married her at 18,

Even if we had children what made you think I would bring them around you?

Until you learn to respect my wife, we won’t be coming here and you will handle your own bills.”

He took my hand, gathered his things and we left the house.

As we walked to the car, I pulled him so he can stand.

“Look at me.”

I said softly and he turned slowly and he had his anger face, and so I mirrored it.

“Are we going to go home like this?”

I tried to make my voice like his, and he broke out into a fits of giggles.

“Much better.”

I whispered softly, he pulled me to him and he kissed me softly.

“Give me your blank canvas so I can draw musical notes all night.”

He whispered softly against my lips and I nodded my head.

“Take me home.”

I whispered.

As we got home, we replaced our clothes with our bodies and like he said earlier, he drew magical notes on my body, they felt nothing short of heaven.

We went to shower, as we were sitting in the shower, my husband was holding my body so tenderly.

“You know what you said earlier caught me off guard, about the miscarriage thing.

I said softly.

“Why?”

He asked gently.

“I don’t know baby, I just didn’t know that you thought about these pregnancy things so deeply.”

He caressed my body.

“People just assume things without knowing the truth,

women always take the heat of why there’s no children, but they just won’t think it’s my fault or that perhaps we did try for a child and we lost it.”

He whispered.

“You’re really thoughtful, do you want to try and have a baby?”

I asked softly.

“Whenever you’re ready.”

He kissed my ears.

“Maybe soon just not now, I don’t want to share you just yet.”

I kissed his chest and then we got out of shower.

“By the way I have a 3-day business meeting, which means you have to go to the office on my behalf and play CEO.”

I smiled at him.

“Nathan you are one of a kind, I told you I never wanted to work but you still made me partner of your company, that’s why I can go play CEO.”

He pulled me to him.

“That company is ours! You listen to me yap about my work so might as well have ownership.”

He kissed my nose.

“Although Alex will give you a rundown of everything that will happen tomorrow,

there’s just one important thing, a man named Adam will be coming.

I nodded my head.

“What for if I may ask?”

He looked thoughtful.

“He wants to study his workplace before he starts his job.”

I fr

owned.

“That sounds a little odd.”

He shrugged his shoulders.

“I suppose but we’re all different baby.”

I nodded my head, we climbed in bed and went to sleep.
