Chapter 5

After dinner my husband and I were watching a movie but I wasn’t focused on the movie, I was rather focused on his breathing.

His breath felt like it was pulsating under my skin,

and it was sending tingles everywhere,

making me even more hyperaware of his presence next to me.

The low rumble of his chuckle startled me a bit because I thought he had caught me looking at his chest, but his attention was on the screen.

A slow burning fire started in my lower belly, and I could feel it burning me at a rapid pace.

I grabbed the remote and switched off the television,

My husband was about to protest but his words got stuck in his throat as he looked at me.

I think that my electricity might grabbed his attention, because he looked like he was hyperaware of me right now.

I started unbuttoning my shirt and I let it fall to the ground, to my disappointment his eyes didn’t dart to my breasts but rather stayed fixed on my face.

I grabbed his hands and placed them on my waist, immediately he started caressing me softly.

“What are you doing?”

He asked in a husky voice.

“I… I just want to be close to you.”

I murmured.

He grabbed me and pinned me underneath him on the couch.

He trailed his hand slowly on my body, it was like he knew that I just wanted to be touched like this.

As if the weather was taking delight in our intimate moment, it started to rain.

He started trailing kisses from my neck down to my stomach, slow and unhurried.

The fire from my belly was totally consuming me now, he pulled out his shirt.

Grabbing my hands, he placed them on his chest and we looked into each other’s eyes.

“Do you want to go upstairs?”

He asked softly and I shook my head.

“Let’s do whatever we want right here.”

I whispered.

He got of me and he went to open the sliding door.

“You read my mind.”

I muttered.

He started removing the rest of his clothes, slowly in an enticing manner, like he was trying to charm me.

He was standing before me naked.

“You’re beautiful.”

I muttered, instead of answering me, he removed the remaining layers I had.

He kissed me softly and deeply, I don’t know if there was ever a feeling like this in the world!

After the tones a hues of our love were painted all over the couch, we were just laying down now.

The cold air mixing with our hot passion.

“So should I expect this often?”

My husband asked in a teasing voice.

“Wouldn’t it be boring if it’s the same thing every time?”

He shook his head.

“With you? Never.”

He grazed my ear with his teeth.

“Is the number of times, we make love healthy?”

I asked curiously.

“I don’t know, my friends say they do it twice a week or twice a month.”

I snickered.

“I won’t be able to live that long without your touch.”

He snorted.

“Well tonight is proof of that.”

He teased.

“Do you mind if we go again?”

He asked sincerely.

“Take me away.”

I muttered softly.

We slept around 3.am, I was woken up by the sound of the coffee maker coming on.

My husband was in the kitchen, bare chested.

“Good morning my love.”

I felt so relaxed, he came around to kiss me.

“Did you sleep well?”

He asked softly.

“Don’t ask like you weren’t there.”

I answered and he chuckled.

“What’s the schedule for today?”

I asked, already dreading today.

My husband half laughed.

“How about instead of working with Remy today, you go and see Si Ra, I will be able to go to the office.”

The joy I felt in my heart could not be explained.

“Ohh! Lazy day here I come!”

My husband laughed.

My happiness was short-lived as a wave of nausea passed through me, I frowned at the uncomfortable feeling.

Before my husband could ask me what’s wrong, I sprinted up and I went to vomit in the bathroom.

A second later my husband was with me.

“Are you okay?”

He asked worriedly.

“I am okay, just a little nausea, honey could you please get me my toiletry bag.”

He went to grab my bag for me, when I grabbed it a bunch of pads fell out.

I stared at them and I could feel a cold sweat breakout.

I was feeling clammy and nervous.

“Babe, can you please get out the bathroom.”

My husband looked at me puzzled but I was already pushing him out the door and locked it behind him.

I sat down on the floor as the room started feeling like it was spinning, my husband was calling for me worriedly.

Once I regain my composure, I grab my bag and start counting my pads, checking the last date of my period! And I lose my mind!

Tears cascaded down my cheeks, I don’t know if I was happy or terrified! But I needed the test to be sure.

From my bag I pulled out a pregnancy chest, I read the instructions but to be honest I didn’t even understand.

The visuals helped a lot than the actual words, I need on the stick as I waited for the results.

I could feel my husband panicking on the other side of the door,

and he was trying to reassure me that everything was going to be fine.

After a while of waiting, I checked the stick and it said pregnant, 2 weeks with a plus sign.

I felt a lot of emotions right now and happiness wasn’t necessarily one of them.

So much tears were streaming down my face I couldn’t even see, I grabbed the pregnancy test and the cap and closed it.

I placed the pregnancy test in the drawer, I washed my hands and my face.

I cleared the mess I had. And then I stared myself in the mirror.

Nathan will be happy right? There’s nothing for me to worry about, right?

Steadying myself I opened the bathroom door and my worried husband pulled into his arms without asking any questions.

And I started weeping like somebody had died, he picked me up. Took me into our bedroom and covered me with a quilt.

He was about to leave the room when I spoke.

“There’s something for you in the first drawer.”

I whispered, I could feel the fear wanting to split me in half.

He left the room and went into the bathroom and I heard him shout.

“Hell Yeah!!”

I laughed at the sound of him knocking everything over.

But when he came out to me his face was composed with the pregnancy test in his hand.

He sat down next to me, and although he looked calm and concerned his eyes were folding in excitement and joy, it felt like he wanted to scream out loud.

“We’re going to have a baby.”

I whispered, and just like a collapsing building his joy died down.

“You don’t sound happy,”

He whispered.

“Want to talk about it? Let me in the world of your emotions.”

He said sweetly.

He grabbed my hand and kissed it softly.

“I am scared baby,

I know that I said I wanted to give you a child but I didn’t expect it so soon!

I don’t know anything about being a mom or whether I will be a good one!

What if things change between us, I am used to the both of us but a baby will change everything.”

He placed his soft hands on my face.

“My love, aren’t you getting a little ahead of yourself.

Our child is barely in the world and you’re already stressing,

baby there’s no manual for how to be a parent but we can learn as we go.

Being a good mom is something you can determine by your efforts and love for our child,

and I know you’ll be an exceptional mom because you have given me, a home and so much love.

Our parenting won’t be easy sometimes, and we’ll make mistakes but that’s how it is, we will learn and adapt.

Having our child won’t change anything between us,

you’ll always be my priority but together our child is our priority.

Nothing will change except that now you’ll have a play date who’s going to take up your time during the day.

Being scared is normal baby but you have me,

and I will do everything in my power to make sure that you know I’m with you a hundred percent.

However it’s to early for all these thoughts, can we just enjoy our pregnancy, celebrating that you are pregnant, hmm?”

Tears welled in my eyes again, but this time, they weren’t from fear. Nathan always had a way of grounding me, of making me feel safe even when my own thoughts tried to drown me.

I sniffled as he brushed his thumbs over my cheeks, wiping away the stray tears. He smiled softly and leaned in, pressing a lingering kiss to my forehead.

“You’re carrying our little one,” he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. Slowly, he lowered himself onto his knees in front of me, his hands gently finding their way to my stomach. There wasn’t a bump yet—just the same familiar softness he’d always loved—but he looked at me like he could already see our future there.

His warm lips pressed against my belly, reverent and tender.

“Hey there, little one,” he murmured, resting his forehead against me. “You don’t know me yet, but I promise I’m going to love you more than anything in this world.”

Something inside me cracked open, like sunlight breaking through heavy clouds. For the first time since seeing those two pink lines, I felt a sliver of peace.

Nathan glanced up at me, his brown eyes shining. “And I already know you’re going to be the best mom.”

A fresh wave of emotion crashed over me, but this time, I didn’t fight it. I reached down, threading my fingers through his hair as he placed another kiss to my stomach.

“Okay,” I whispered. “Let’s celebrate.”

He grinned and stood, scooping me into his arms with ease. “How about breakfast in bed for my two favourite people?”

I laughed, letting myself sink into his embrace. Maybe I wasn’t quite ready yet, but with Nathan by my side, I knew I would be.

So much for spending time in bed! Nathan ended up making an appointment for me to see the doctor, in three hours!

His excitement was rubbing off me now, I found myself feeling excited by this pregnancy.

After eating, showering and getting dressed we went for our doctors appointment! The doctor checked me and everything was good!

Nathan ended cancelling every meeting he had and he just spent time with me, later we decided to go meet up with his parents to tell them the news.

Hopefully Mrs. Cullen will finally be happy and stop bugging me about having a child!

Later in the evening we drove to Nathan’s parents house, and as always Mrs. Cullen was cold and stiffed as always, his father just pretended like I wasn’t there as always.

“ You didn’t have to come with her, you could have come alone.”

Immediately Nathan stood up and took my hand.

“For once I thought you would stop giving my wife a hard time, what did she ever do to you! Mom I’m sick of your behaviour and dad’s!

If you want another daughter in law then find her and marry her yourself!”

His mother and father looked surprised at his sudden outburst.

He took my hand and we walked towards the door. When we got to the door he turned to face his parents.

“By the way Amela is pregnant that’s why we came to see you, it’s a pity my child will grow up without grandparents.”

They looked shocked and stammered for words, Nathan grabbed my hand and we walked out.

His parents came out calling us but Nathan didn’t even spare them a second glance.

Once in the car he turned his attention to me.

“I’m sorry about what happened in there.”

I took his hand in mine and kissed it.

“Baby I told you not to pay attention to this, look at you all angry now. I can handle your mother and father.”

He sighed.

“Are you sure?”

I nodded my head .

We drove home in comfortable silence, when we arrived home he cooked me some food because I was hungry again.

After eating, we cuddled in bed and he was rubbing my stomach.

“Are you going to the office tomorrow?”

He shook his head.

“I will be working from home so I can take care of you.”

He said softly and he kissed my hair.

“ You can’t do that! Don’t be an absent boss.”

I said.

“I just want to take care of you.”

He whined.

“You already do! How about this, the only time you will get to work from home is when the baby is born, deal?”

I turned to face him and he looked like he was contemplating it.

“Fine but I will send Remy to check on you from time to time.”

I frowned at my husband.

“Remy?”

He looked at me.

“Will you feel uncomfortable around him?”

I shook my head.

“I just didn’t think you’d bring him around here.”

I murmured.

“I told you baby, that I trust you! Unless you feel that Remy is a different

kind of crush, I don’t want to tempt you.”

He said softly.

“I would never cheat on you baby, you’re the only person I want.”

I kissed his warm mouth.

“Just don’t bring him around often and I won’t let him enter the house.”

He nodded his head and we went to sleep.
