The inhabitant star turned on itself long enough for the light star to be visible again over the horizon.
After I stayed in the resting chamber and recorded everything I could think of, I found myself sitting on the soft resting device looking at the void. Not wanting to look strange in the eyes of the natives I opted to wait until their resting period finished to get out.
I certainly won't lie; the wait was excruciating. I can't even begin to fathom how these beings rest in their resting period when they just don't do anything and remain seated, waiting for the light to come back. Just sitting here is tiring on its own, especially if I put their weak bodies in the equation.
For now, this paradox will have to remain unresolved, for the second day of my visit to this sentient beings' settlement began and I couldn't be more content about it.
Standing up, I proceeded to open the door and leave the questionable resting place. But as soon as I got out, I could see the few present customers ogling at me.
'This species seriously had issues, issues which ran deep into their biological coding.' I thought, taking out my archive log in excitement to record my observation.
Getting to record something right off the start of the second day was a great sign. This also acted as a confirmation of my correct decision to observe and record this race. Seriously great stuff to be archived.
A special note in my archive was the reaction of the unique individual behind the wooden cage who is a great source of material. As soon as he saw me his face skin constricted, and water began dripping from his vision organs. That was indeed a unique individual of his species, having more abilities than the others.
Although I didn't want to leave such a massive source of data, I had to, nonetheless. I gave just a final glance to the special individual, silently thanking him for the knowledge I gathered and then exited this gathering place, forgetting him at once.
Out again in the hectic dirt roads of the settlement, I spent the next half of the light period going around it, and gathering any data, important or otherwise, I might have overlooked.
I don't know if it played an important factor that this race was one of the first sentient ones I studied, but as I was walking through their settlement and was receiving those constant stares, for a moment I felt slightly unwilling to leave them.
These little beings' innocence and energy in their every action, like when one of them took a fruit from another one's hand and while playfully yelled at and chased by them, ran full of vigor.
Their mutual amiable communication, with yelling again, amongst themselves and touching their fellow kinsman with clenched palms full of passion.
Along with their collective ignorance about the grand cosmos, there were all things which made them grow on me, pulling me to want to stay with them.
...…. Well, that simple impulse only lasted for a cosmic fragment of my thought process. The fundamental purpose and meaning of their existence were a mere temporary source of data for me.
No matter how good of a data supplier they were, they didn't cease to be just a speck of the infinite material I have to observe and record.
The setting of the light star began once again, when I finally reached the wooden door I had previously entered from.
The moment the beings holding the bent wooden sticks saw me draw near, they didn't stay idle like before, and immediately opened for me to pass.
Insignificant as they may be compared to the whole cosmos, I was really impressed by their ability to learn from their previous weak response. Even at my last moments with them, that was an important discovery to miss recording it, so I dutifully wrote it down and archived it to their file.
Finishing with that, I walked through the open door and moved away from their settlement. Thinking that the visit was concluded I was about to leave for my next venture when to my amazement, from a distance away, a cloud of earth particles had risen and was growing in size as time passed.
My curiosity for new things was piqued. I abandoned the notion of leaving and put my full attention on the looming earth cloud. In closer observation, the growing cloud of earth particles turned out to be the same species of beings he observed in the settlement sitting atop some kind of quadrupedal beasts.
That group was rushing in the settlement's direction, producing the earth cloud from their fast velocity.
I immediately brought out my archive log again and began recording the events in detail.
Being the same kind as the ones in the settlement, only one speculation about their origins and purpose came to mind.
They were obviously a group of another close by settlement coming to meet, converse and maybe trade with the ones I visited.
And the times they probably do this kind of meeting were apparently few and far between. Their speed of moving also spoke volumes of how much they missed their kinsmen.
When the group of riding beings drew near, the beings above the wooden door began yelling and running back and forth, their actions rushed and vivid. They also seemed to be happy about their fellow kinsmen visiting.
The group of running beings in their joy too, finally reached their kinsmen. After both sides exchanged quick and loud greetings, they started exchanging items, both made of metal and wood. They most likely haven't had a meeting for a long time, their eagerness to exchange items and pleasantries was amazing to say the least.
Some of them were so impatient they failed to catch the exchanged items the other side threw at them; they got hurt in the process!
The meeting was intense and a first for me to witness. Many different greetings, gestures and attitudes were presented in front of my eyes. From the moment it began until its very end I didn't stop recording, my fingers becoming a blur from my inputting speed.
When the meeting eventually stopped, my fingers were as exhausted as the beings who participated in it. I could feel them almost numb like the many beings prone on the ground and above the wooden door. Some of them fainted from exhaustion and others from the joy the reunion brought, while others happily left to resume the activities elsewhere, just as I was exhilarated by the rich material I just received.
Feeling fully content of what I gathered on this trip, I turned and left for good this time, leaving behind me the unmoving but pleased beings on the ground.
