Klee Meow has always liked to name her bombs with repeating sounds. For example, the basic type is called the "Boom-Boom Bomb," the enhanced power type is the "Bang-Bang Bomb," and the "Crackle-Crackle Spark," which was recreated using her Burn-Burn Fruit ability.
If a regular person used this kind of naming style, it would probably sound annoying. But when it comes from Klee Meow, it nothing but adorable.
As mentioned before, Klee Meow modified her fish-stunning bombs using sonic bombs, allowing them to knock fish unconscious without harming their lives. The Whoosh-Whoosh Bomb was an upgraded version she developed specifically to target fish hiding deep underwater.
Just from the name, you could guess—it works similarly to a torpedo. It can travel a short distance underwater, and honestly, it wouldn't be a problem to throw it into the air like a missile either… because Sherwin had seen Klee Meow use it to blow up Birds.
While they were talking, the pirate ship from the Skull hunter Pirates had already entered standard cannon-fire range.
Before Klee Meow could make a move, the enemy had already fired a few cannonballs their way. But their aim was way off, with most shots landing more than ten meters away from the Explorer One, kicking up huge splashes of seawater.
"Those bad guys actually fired first, meow!" The little Ragdoll stomped her foot angrily.
Then, fuming, Klee Meow quickly pulled out a dozen or so round, pudgy little "dolls" from the small backpack behind her.
Even though these were technically "torpedoes," Klee Meow still made them into her favorite round, chubby shape. Each of the little balls had a tassel-like tail attached to the back.
Klee Meow grabbed one Whoosh-Whoosh Bomb by the tail and started twirling it above her head.
"Heave-ho!"
After rapidly spinning it a dozen times, she threw the bomb hard into the air. As soon as it left her hand, sparks sprayed out from the tail, and with a "whoosh-whoosh" sound, it shot toward the pirate ship—one significantly larger than the Explorer One.
Of course, Klee Meow attack didn't stop there. The little Ragdoll spun her arm enthusiastically and hurled several more Whoosh-Whoosh Bombs in the blink of an eye.
Meanwhile, the Skull hunter Pirates weren't just standing idle. They continued firing at the Explorer One while closing the distance.
"Klee, I'm protecting the Explorer One. I'm not trying to steal your spotlight~" Sherwin said as he drew the stolen famous blade, Long Moon.
Even though the Skull hunter Pirates gunners weren't very accurate, luck could still strike—several cannonballs came flying toward the Explorer One. Sherwin had no intention of letting his first ship get damaged by some nobody.
Swish—swish—swish.
Sherwin swung his longsword and slashed out several flying strikes at the incoming cannonballs.
For someone like him, who had already mastered Armament Haki, performing flying slashes wasn't all that difficult.
He could even execute the Flying Blade version with air blades, though that wasn't necessary right now.
As Sherwin sliced all the cannonballs in half, Klee Meow Whoosh-Whoosh Bombs reached the airspace above the Skullhunter Pirates ship one after another.
Vmmm—vmmm—vmmm—vmmm—vmmm—
With each visible sonic wave exploding outward, a chain of rumbling blasts echoed back from the distance.
Though the explosions were loud, they weren't deafening or piercing. Yet, they had a strange effect—they caused a dizzying sensation. Luckily, Sherwin and the others were far enough away that the impact was minimal.
As for the direct victims of the Whoosh-Whoosh Bombs, the Skull hunter Pirates ship fell completely silent in an instant.
Not only did their cannon fire cease, but the figures who had been taunting from the bow of the ship also disappeared. It was clear that, like the fish who ended up in Sherwin and the others bellies before, they'd all been knocked unconscious by Klee Meow bombs.
And just like that, the Felyne Investigation Team first encounter with pirates ended effortlessly.
Are Klee Meow Whoosh-Whoosh Bombs really that powerful?
Sherwin shook his head and looked at the pirate ship in the distance that had gone completely silent. Then he glanced helplessly at the little Ragdoll beside him, who was once again hugging a pile of bombs…
This little rascal had definitely "upgraded" her bombs again.
"Muu-meow... Why did it end so fast? Klee didn't even get to enjoy blowing things up yet, meow…"
Seeing how the enemy lost all ability to fight back after just one round of her attack, Klee Meow couldn't help but grumble in disappointment.
But thankfully, Klee Meow didn't have the bad habit of "attacking the dead." So while she complained, she still obediently and reluctantly stuffed the bombs back into her little backpack.
"Alright, from now on, whenever there a sea battle, we'll leave it to you, okay?" Sherwin gently rubbed the little Ragdoll head, coaxing her like a pro. "Now, time to go collect our loot."
"Okay! Loot time, meow!"
Klee Meow spirits immediately soared. Her previously droopy cat ears perked up with a pop.
Right after, the excited Klee Meow darted off to the helm and started causing trouble for Sanji Meow, who was trying to adjust the ship direction.
And so, with the little Ragdoll enthusiastic "help," the Explorer One wobbled its way toward the pirate ship at a pace that took at least three times longer than it should have.
Once they got close, Sherwin could clearly feel the massive difference between the two ships. Compared to theirs, the Explorer One was basically a tiny skiff.
Even among all the ships the Capone family had offered him to choose from back then, the largest one was still slightly smaller than this. The Explorer One mast didn't even reach as high as the enemy ship deck.
"Wahhh—!" Klee Meow placed her little paw above her eyes, tilted her small head back, and looked up at the large ship in front of her. Then she tugged at Sherwin sleeve. "Sherwin-nii, Klee wants to ride the big ship too, meow."
"Haven't I already told you? With a ship this big, there no way just a few of us can operate it," Sherwin reached out and gently scratched the little plushie cheek, then promised, "Be good~ Once we have more crewmates, I'll get you a big ship, okay?"
"Okay, meow!" Klee Meow trusted her Sherwin-nii completely. After responding energetically, she cheered and started climbing up onto the pirate ship. "Then Klee going to look for treasure first, meow!"
Although no rope ladder had been lowered, climbing was no challenge for a cat. With a quick whoosh, Klee Meow darted up the side of the hull and landed swiftly on the deck.
"Sanji, go up and keep an eye on Klee…" Sherwin sighed and rubbed his forehead, then reminded, "And don't forget to lower the rope ladder."
Although he could have jumped aboard himself, there was no need to. Besides, they still had Odelia with them. Since he didn't want to reveal the existence of space gear for now, he needed her help to carry the loot.
"Got it, meow."
Sanji Meow flicked his ears and climbed up at a speed no slower than Klee Meow. Moments later, a rope ladder dropped down from above.
Sherwin and Odelia climbed aboard the pirate ship via the rope ladder. By then, the two Felynes were no longer on deck—they had probably already run off into the cabin to scavenge for loot. The deck was littered with fallen pirates, sprawled out in every direction.
Blood still trickled from many of their ears, clearly the result of Klee Meow boom-boom bombs giving them quite the shock.
Aside from that, the pirate ship itself wasn't completely unscathed either. Many parts of the wooden structure looked as if they had been crushed by something, showing signs of warping and cracks.
So… those boom-boom bombs Klee Meow threw just now clearly weren't the same kind she normally uses for fishing.
But that was only to be expected. Klee Meow greatest passion was making her bombs more powerful. Asking her to obediently focus on researching functional explosives or harmless fireworks…
Well, it was possible—she could do it. But once she finished that, this little one would definitely go right back to developing more powerful "firepower-enhanced" versions.
