Black Swan City

About two hours later, Ren Wei arrived at a city which was about 20 miles away from his small White Lake Town.

On his way there, he met some wild animals and some mortal bandits. But he easily took care of it.

For the animals, he simply scare them off with his heavy momentum.

And for the mortal bandits, they were too stubborn and stupid for their own good.

Seeing a lone man on a forest path, they thought they hit the jackpot. So, without a second thought, they surrounded him and demanded him to leave whatever he was carrying— including the bamboo pot and the fishing rod.

At first, Ren Wei warned them as they were just mortals and he did not want to harm them. He knew they were also trying to survive in this harsh world.

But, when their work for survival threatens another man, things usually goes south.

He politely broke all their useful bones and left them on the road. Maybe they will be lucky enough to meet some kind people.

Then, he finally arrived at the nearest city, Black Swan City.

And the reason for him to come to the city is simple. There are Immortal cultivators here, not in his town.

And he wants spirit stones,clothes just just testing and also for future uses. Like buying Immortal stuffs.

In his town, there is not a people who can afford the Mortal Grade fishes. Because, even just a single Mortal Grade fish is valuable to starting cultivators.

With that in his mind, he joined the queue of people, waiting to enter the city.

Time went on, his turn quickly came.

After giving some coins, he easily entered the city. Not a single guard at the city gate tried to give me trouble.

After entering the city, Ren Wei did not roam around admiring the beauty of the city. He had already seen way cooler and extravagant cities in his past life.

Tall sky scrappers and shocking cars. None of the things inside the city moved his feeling.

The only thing that made him wonder was the supernatural things of this world.

His first thought after entering the city was to go straight to the market.

Then, he realized the Immortal cultivators will not come to some mortal market. So, his only option is to went to their door, to sell his fishes.

But he did not know if they will take it. Because most of fishes are only useful for recovering from sickness. Not for Qi absorption.

All he could do at that moment was to find some information. And to do that, what better place than a busy restaurant.

So now, what he needs to do is find a busy restaurant.

With that in mind, he turned and started asking around.

And very quickly, he found to places that fit the description in his mind. Golden Pleasure Restaurant and Heavy Fragrance Restaurant.

After asking around, he arrived at the place.

But when he arrived at the place, he was quite surprised to see the two restaurants facing eachother's direction. On the other side of the road.

Sensing the more crowded restaurant, he decided to enters it.

Standing on the front door, he looked up on the big board hanging just above to doorway.

With the carving, 'Golden Pleasure Restaurant' and just below the name, a quote. "Experience the golden pleasure just by eating."

"What a nice words." He thought.

Just a say ago, he got the reward to be able to read and write.

Adjusting his clothes, he walked in.

However, just a he stepped one foot inside, someone blocked his way. A man who just around his age.

Confused, Ren Wei looked at the man with his head tiled.

"This is no place for beggars. You should leave before I called the security." The man said.

Puzzled at the man's words, Ren Wei looked inside the restaurant. There he saw all people eating with nices clothings and he saw some people with noble clothes on the second.

Then, he turned back and looked at himself. Just simple plain old clothing with fishing rod and bamboo pot.

He quickly realized what the man was implying.

He smiled and said. "I am not a beggar and I can afford your foods."

Before the man could even argue, Ren Wei reached inside his robe and took out a money pouch.

Then, he shook it in front of the man's eyes.

Clink...clink...

The man heard the sound of coins clashing against eachother, inside the pouch.

Very quickly, his icy cold fsce turned into flattering face, with a fake smile. "Haha...please come in, sir. I was blind not to see the real deal. Please, sir."

The man quickly showed the way inside.

As soon as he stepped inside the restaurant, Ren Wei realized that it was not so easy to gain information like he saw on those TV dramas. He could not even distinguish the mixer of voices.

And no one talks so loudly, so that he could hear it.

"Those TV dramas are all fraud. I was blind to trust it." He thought inside.

Seeing him standing there for about a minute, the man thought something was wrong. He asked hurriedly. "Is there anything wrong sir."

Snapping out of his thought, Ren Wei shook his head and said. "It seems your tables are all full."

Hearing the words, the man also turned and look. "Aii.. it's true." He then turned to Ren Wei and politely asked. "Sir, how about the second floor. It's just little more expensive than the ground floor."

Ren Wei thought and nodded. And the man quickly led the way with a smile.

After finding a corner seat, Ren Wei sat down. He put aside his fishing rod, leaning against the corner. Looking around, he felt the atmosphere was much more pleasing than the chattering down stair.

"Sir, please wait for a minute. I will quickly send up a waiter here." The man left after Ren Wei sat found a seat.

Like he said. Just a minute later, a waiter came to Ren Wei's table.

It was a young man, looking to be in his twenties.

Smiling, he politely asked. "Sir, are you the one who needs a waiter?" Calm and soft tone.

Ren Wei looked at the man and nodded.

"Ohh then please tell me your order." With his both hands placing in front, he asked.

Ren Wei did not answered the question, instead he said. "Tell me your name, young man."

The young waiter did not expect the sentence, but he quickly answered. "Its Yi Shan, sir."

"OK, Yi Shan." Ren Wei nodded. "So, Yi Shan. Is it okay if I ask something before I give you my order?"

The young waiter have never met any customer who was polite as the man currently in front of him.

Nodding his head, he replied. "You can ask me anything, sir."

Ren Wei took out two silver coins from his pouch and put them on the table.

Then, he said. "Yi Shan, if you can tell me some information of the cultivation family or clan this town. You can take this two silver coins for yourself."

"Don't worry, I am not asking for inside information. I am just asking for their manners and structure. How they behave around the city. Like good reputation or bad. Nothing much. So you can freely tell me." He quickly added to avoid misunderstanding.

Yi Shan stares at the two silver coins on the table and swallowed a gulp.

Gulp....

That was his whole month salary. 2 silver coins equivalent to 200 cover coins.

"What do you need, sir. I will tell you everything I know." He turned away from the silver coins and looked at Ren Wei.

"Just those I said." Ren Wei smiled.

"Oh! Right. Information." Yi Shan thought for a second and started telling. "Let's see. OK."

"If sir is talking about martial arts family. Then, there are 4 such family in Black Swan City."

"Wait, wait. I am asking about Immortal cultivators clan, not martial arts clan." Ren Wei waved his hand and quickly stopped him from further words.

"How is those two the same thing. One is martial arts and the other is Immortal cultivators." During all these time, both the young waiter and Ren Wei kept a low voice.

"Haha.. sir. Low level cultivators are called martial warriors. Only the high level cultivators are called Immortals." The young waiter explained.

"Yes." Yi Shan nodded. "The 4 clans are Li, Meng, Lin and Jin clan."

"Among the 4 clans, the one with the good reputation is probably the Jin clan. They always helps the poor people whenever necessary. But the other three also doesn't have that kind of bad reputation. Its just below the Jin clan."
