It felt like she was being drawn into a large pool of light, and in an instant she was back—back to the harsh reality she lived in. The tears were still flowing out of her eyes, and she was about to be hit by her father in the present. Alphi quickly dodged the blow. She didn't want to continue this. The ring fell out of her hand, and she shouted, "Stop!"
For an instant, Eric stopped, wondering why she screamed all of a sudden.
Then Alphi spoke.
"Dad, it's ok, you don't have to do this anymore. This isn't you. You aren't the wicked person you try to be. I forgive you. I know you didn't harm Mom, and I'm sorry for accusing you."
Eric looked at her, tears in his eyes.
"What do you know, huh? My life was great—even perfect—but you witches, you made my life a living hell."
"I know everything—all the pain and hardship you had to endure. I know Mom left and never returned. I know you were betrayed and deceived by Mom. I also know you ended up living here because of Mom," Alphi said with a shaky voice.
"How do you know all this? I never told you, and there is no trace of that incident in this house. Who told you? Answer me!" he demanded.
"I... I went through your memories," she stammered.
His face darkened.
"What do you mean by my memories? No... don't tell me you were in my head?" he asked.
"I didn't mean to, it just happened," she replied.
"So you think you can just go inside my head and go through my past?" he asked angrily.
"I'm sorry, I... I..." Alphi stammered.
He looked around, and in a fit of rage he picked up a chair and threw it straight at Alphi.
"No!" she shouted.
In panic, her powers went out of control. All the emotions she felt while in her father's memory were finally having effect.
A huge beam of light that seemed to destroy everything in her path blasted out of her arm. Her star and necklace were glowing brighter than ever. Alphi was out of control, and the more she panicked, the worse things got. The house was falling apart, and everything was getting destroyed.
Eric was speechless and frightened.
"Stop that!" he screamed.
"I can't!" Alphi responded, panic evident in her voice.
"You're destroying the whole place! Stop it—I don't have another house!" Eric ordered with a shaky voice.
"You think I don't know that?!" Alphi, desperately trying to stop it, didn't realize when she blasted a hole in Eric's belly.
She turned in his direction, only to see him fall to the ground. Time seemed to move in slow motion. Her heart stopped for a second. Her powers finally stopped. Her mind went blank—she couldn't process what had just happened.
She finally understood.
I blasted him.
"Father!" she screamed, rushing over to him. The sight of him lying helplessly on the ground in a pool of blood shattered her.
She fell to the ground, holding him up in her arms.
"Dad? Dad!" she called, crying uncontrollably.
He coughed.
"Alphi… is that you?" he asked.
That was the first time he had called her by her name.
"Yes, it's me. Don't try to speak. I'll figure something out. Just stay quiet, okay? Just—"
She was interrupted.
He smiled a little.
"You look just like Anna."
Alphi didn't know what to say.
"Funny how you still care… after everything I've done to you," he said.
"It's true that you were kind of mean," she said, choking through tears, "but I heal really fast. And you took care of me, even after everything Mom did. You could've abandoned me, or left me to die—but you didn't. And I forgive you."
"If only you met Anna… things would be different. If only she didn't leave…"
I know, I know I promise, I will find out the truth about everything, just stay with me.
He just smiled faintly, you don't have to do anything, just take care of yourself and live the life I could never give you. Maybe fall in love with a good guy and don't lie to him he has to love you for you. Eric said while in pain
Alphi responded, i will do all of that, but with you by my side, don't leave me, if you do i won't forgive you.
You don't have to forgive me just live for my sake too. Eric replied
Alphi got desperate she started trying to use her powers, heal him she shouted, holding her necklace. I'm not letting you die because of me she said crying.
It's not your fault ok, I caused this, I don't think I have much time he said as he groaned in pain beware of your aunt I don't trust her. Keep the ring safe it's all I have left of Anna, and be happy.
Eric's life flashed before his eyes—all the time he spent with Anna, Stephen… He smiled softly. Anna seemed to appear in front of him.
"In the end, I couldn't hate you… and I couldn't even take care of Alphi," he whispered.
Alphi, still holding him in her arms and screaming his name, said,
"Hey, your body is starting to feel cold. Should I get a blanket?"
"Dad? Dad?" she called.
But in a matter of minutes, life left his body, and his hand dropped out of hers. The cold blood on her hands brought back memories of the cave—she knew the sensation of cold blood. She had felt it before.
She called for him continuously, but there was no use.
He was gone.
Alphi cried and screamed, "Don't leave me, Dad! Just when everything was going to be fine between us, I won't forgive you for this. Come back, come back to your daughter." Alphi suddenly went silent; she stared at her bloody hands, she was soaked in her father's blood.
No, no, no, no, not again, this can't be happening again, I killed someone once again. I'm a murderer, I murdered my father. I killed him, I, I didn't mean to. He's gone erased from the world and it's all my fault.I'm a monster, I don't deserve to live, I should just die and all this would end, she picked up a piece of wood and tried to injure herself but it would just heal up almost instantly.
Alphi just sat there uncontrollable tears pouring from her eyes, soaked in blood next to her father's body in the center of the house she had destroyed with her own hands.
