Prologue

Since time immemorial, it is said, fragments fall from the sky.

Shards from another world,

crashing into the earth... and into the hearts of men, like meteors.

Within each one lies an essence.

A power.

Few can withstand it.

Those who do… are called the Fragmented.

The world admires them as heroes. Some fear them.

But one day, a different fragment fell from the sky.

No light. No impact.

Only a silence heavier than death.

That fragment... was meant for no one.

So a hidden organization decided to defy fate.

Decades of forbidden experiments.

And a hunt for test subjects, in the one place no one looked:

the Pit, the world's underbelly,

where nameless orphans go to die.

They tested. They altered. They broke.

Hundreds of people. But none survived.

All except one.

A thin boy. Quiet.

With nothing to his name but his instinct to survive.

And yet, his body… endured. But at what cost?

He doesn't know his name. Maybe he never had one.

But inside his mind, something monstrous has awoken.

He's not a Fragmented. Not really.

He is something else.

Something even the researchers never anticipated.

And every day, it changes him.
