Jackpot!

*Albert POV*

*Location: Brockton Bay (Outside the City), Massachusetts*

*Date: December 25th, 1990*

Scrambling to my feet, I found myself surrounded by literal garbage, as in discarded toilet paper I didn't want to know was used for. Alognside all manner of destroyed funrinutrue and other disguesting crap. I slowly got out of that particular junk pile I didn't want to think about, nor did I want to think about all the possible diseases I could be catching.

Honestly, since I knew two possible gods were now real, I prayed to them that I didn't catch anything foul whilst I worked my way out of the garbage heap. I mean the whole thing smelled bad, and I mean far beyond bad as I worked my way around some particularly nasty piles. I mean, the whole walk wasn't as bad as you'd think, as I was able to perfectly avoid the most rancid piles. Yep, definitely didn't get what I was assuming was old hot sauce on my sleeve and pants.

Once I was finally out, I was able to get a good look at where I was, and well...I didn't want to say it was a shithole. Mostly because I couldn't really get a good view of it from the fact that I was quite a bit away from it, and since I had no car, guess who now had to walk.

"Great, just great, looks like my luck isn't improving that much in this life either," I said as I began to long arduous walk to the nearest city.

Don't get me wrong, I was kinda hoping to hitch a ride to the city, but for right now, walking alongside the road would have to do. That was when I had the bright idea to check my wallet, I mean, who knows, maybe Fortune decided to be nice and give a couple of bucks for a bus, alongside a legal ID for this new world. I mean, not a lot of those transmigrators think about that tidbit if you want to make a living.

Rumaginign through, I did in fact see a valid driver's license saying I was born on January 12th, 1965. Hopefully, that didn't mean I was now an old man because I had no idea what year it was in this new world, although I did see an expiration date on it that said 1991, meaning that I would need to get an updated one. I mean it wasn't great, but still good news overall, well minus the no on-hand cash/empty wallet I was currently seeing.

All good, all good, I just needed to find a way to make some quick cash and get myself settled. I mean, no matter what, I needed a place to live as I would rather not be homeless, even though I was right now technically homeless, well, apartmentless if you wanted to be specific. Didn't matter either way; I needed to make my own fortune in this new world somehow. That was when I remembered something Fortune said before I was dropped into this new world.

I think it was a 'system' or something like that, maybe they gave me something like that one Gamer webcomic, or from the vast amount of fanfic that used a similar concept. Not that I was complaining because right now I was thankful for the leg-up or whatever phrase fits there, because based on their conversation, I was not hopeful for how dangerous or life-threatening this world was. Mostly because I think what they meant by 40k was Warhammer 40k.

Now, I wasn't the most well-read individual, but even I knew the messed-up things in that universe. Especially the chaos gods, so if they were saying this place was messed up but not that messed, did bring a little hope to me, albeit not much, as I had no idea what they were talking about.

"System, Open, Stats, literally all the cliché ways to open a system panel of any kind."

"Gamblign time?" Soon enough, a golden panel opened up in front of me with an introduction to the basics of the system.

[Hello host, and welcome to the Gambler's Den System, one of chance and luck instead of hard work]

[Host currently has one free spin on the wheel of abilties, magic, items, and skills]

[Do you wish to use Y/N?]

I immediately clicked on yes, hoping I would get something good and hopefully a way to earn some manner of income. I mean, if I were being honest, beyond manual labor, I did not have any skills beyond gambling, and well, this is where it got me in the end.

[Spinning Spinning Spinning Ding! Skill rolled]

[Rare Skill - Golden Rule A-Rank (nasuverse)]

[Description - The host is destined to live a life of riches and luxury; this skill signifies that and will lead the host to possible riches, chances being increased by the host's luck in the process as well]

I mean, honestly, not too bad, while it wasn't exactly a combat-oriented skill, it was still pretty good, but the only problem was that. How would I get the money? Would I find a random lottery ticket, some jewels, a lost inheritance, or something like that? Well, that was my thought process until a random piece of paper hit me in my face. I nearly stumbled back as I grabbed it and was able to get a good look at it.

That whole bit about getting a random lottery ticket, well, I got just that, a winning ticket for $5 grand, three cherries in a row. If my eyes could, I'm sure they would be dollar signs by now as I just stared, gobsmacked at the ticket. I then let my fist rise to the air, doing a victory stance with the ticket in hand.

"Thank you, Fortune, for this amazing bit of luck!" I said as I did a mandatory victory dance.

"Ok, not exactly a million, but I'll take it." I said as I stuffed the lottery ticket into my pocket, hoping a hole didn't tear open in it.

"System, how often do I get these spins or rolls, or whatever?" I said as I continued to walk down the road, trying to find a bus stop or someone to hitch a ride with.

Was it the safest option, oh hell no, and if I could, I would never do it, but right now I was desperate and the city was extremmly far away.

[The host gets one free spin per month, but if the host wishes for another, you may sacrifice a specific amount of currency for a free spin; the amount invested will determine the likelihood of as the host puts it 'Jackpot' or rare prize.]

[The host can also gain spins via specific events like holidays or other important occasions, and by completing certain tasks in this world, either through the host's own actions or through the will of either Fortune or Mis if they so wish.]

Meaning that it was like a gacha game with a certain number of free spins per month, with the ability to buy more with a certain amount of money. That would also increase my chances of getting something good, which made it really tempting to use that lottery ticket, but for right now, I needed to hold onto it for food, shelter, and other stuff. The other two conditions being my own actions in this world, probably like saving a family or influencing a major figure in some way, would grant me a spin for free.

Then came the whole Fortune and Mis bit, well, that made sense as they did call me their champion when I met them for the first time. That confused me as I didn't know what it would entail being two gods' champion, especially ones of luck like they were. I mean, for what reason did they require a champion of any kind, and was there something they wanted me to accomplish?

"Well, I can worry about that later, let's just enjoy the wonderful feeling of winning two Jackpots today," I said as I let the wind wash over my face as I grew ever closer to the city.
