Jessica stares at the vicious creature that shouldn't exist. She shouldn't be real. At first, Jessica thinks maybe this is fake and all this is role play, and this lady with the razor teeth is in a costume, but that is most certainly not the case. It doesn't look like she's wearing a costume at all. And that gentleman looks dead… he is dead.
It's fascinating to see a vampire, a creature she thought only existed in pop culture, staring right back at her.
She was once just a pretty blond girl with blue eyes, but now she's still blond; the only difference is she has blood red eyes, sharp fangs, pointy ears, and she went from looking like a Barbie doll to a killer demon.
"Oh my God," Jessica says, trying to blink away her shock but to no avail. "You're a vampire," she says, and the vampire pauses and gives Jessica a condescending look.
"No, I'm not a vampire. I'm a nocturne, the term vampire was given to us by dumbass writers who think they know us," she says, folding her arms with sass.
Nocturne
Jessica has never heard of a nocturne before, but she does know what this lady is. She drinks blood, she is probably immortal, and she is deadly. Jessica is supposed to be running for her life, but instead she stands there fascinated by the creature she thought was just a mere myth and a man's imagination.
The nocturne looks Jessica up and down, and then a smile cracks on her face.
"And you are a Nytheri," she says, and Jessica furrows her brow, confused.
"A what?"
"Don't play dumb with me bitch." The Nocturne snaps, and she walks slowly toward Jessica with a murderous look on her face. "I can smell a Nytheri from a mile away. You people can't just stay away, can you?" The Nocturne grabs Jessica's neck with a quickness, and she squeezes it. Jessica tries to catch her breath, and she struggles to get free from her grip.
"I am going to crush you so you can send your other annoying ass Nytheri friends to leave us nocturnes the fuck alone."
Jessica still doesn't understand what the hell she's saying, but she's not going to be asking her what she means by what she's saying. So she just kicks the Nocturne away from her, and she goes flying toward the wall.
Jessica hears a crack, and she gasps, placing her hands on her mouth, hoping she didn't kill this woman, but she didn't because the Nocturne is standing up and cracking her neck, putting her bones back to normal.
She looks more angry than she did before.
"You're so going to regret that."
Jessica does not care. She was scared of this nocturne before, but now that she knows what she's capable of, she's going to be showing this nocturne who is the boss.
"Bring it, you blood sucking bitch!" Jessica spits, which is a surprise to her because she doesn't say the B word.
The Nocturne's face twists into that of rage. She runs toward Jessica with her super speed, and lucky for Jessica, she uses her instincts to catch up with the nocturne. She dodges the attack and the nocturne goes flying toward the wall.
Jessica quickly drags her by the hair, and when she comes to focus, she throws a punch at her face, and she falls to the ground. Jessica doesn't believe in violence, but in a time like this, she has to be violent because it's either going to be her or the Nocturne and besides, she just killed a man.
The Nocturne grabs Jessica's legs and attempts to bite her like a child who is throwing a tantrum. Jessica moves her legs in an attempt to get the Nocturne off her.
"Let go!" Jessica yells, jumping up and down, dancing to the tune of non-existent music. Then Jessica kicks her on her face. Now she's no longer holding her leg. The Nocturne gets up, not giving up. She rushes to Jessica in an attempt to kill her once and for all.
With one swipe of Jessica's hand, the nocturne goes back, and she screams. She's in pain. A confused Jessica looks at her hand, and her eyes widen when she sees that her claws are out. She must have scratched the nocturne on the face.
She's guessing her claws are very lethal to Nocturnes. All this is so new to her, but now she thinks maybe she should have just listened to the handsome stranger who wanted to explain things to her. She now knows that all this is legit.
She is no longer human; she is a Nytheri, whatever that even is. All she knows is that it's a supernatural creature. But what is it? A demon, what?
She really shouldn't have run away from that man. And the worst part is that she feels a connection to him in some kind of way. Is it because he gave her a life?
All this is so confusing and new to her.
"What have you done?" The Nocturne cries, and Jessica looks at the Nocturne in horror. There's nothing but a dark void on her face and smoke coming out of it. Her face is disfigured; she looks more monstrous than ever before. Her beauty is gone forever.
Next thing she does is whistle; she whistles so loudly that Jessica places her hand on her ears.
Other Nocturnes join in so swiftly. These are the Nocturnes she saw walking into the club. She's called reinforcements. Jessica is surely cooked.
One of the Nocturnes Jessica attacked helps her up. While the others look at Jessica with so much hatred on their faces.
Another one walks up to her. He's young, with slicked-back black hair wearing a leather jacket. They're all wearing leather jackets.
"A Nytheri, just our luck," he says, looking straight at her with a chilling smile on his face. He's closer to her right now, and she can feel his cold breath. They're all so cold. It's like snow has fallen on a summer's day.
The Nocturne stares deep into her soul. "Where are your other annoying companions?"
"I- don't know what you're talking about," she says, and then the Nocturne angrily grabs her by the neck and lifts her in the air.
Jessica keeps kicking her feet in the air and struggling to get free, but his grip is too strong. So strong.
"You're lying to me, Nytheri. I could crush you for what you did to my friend." Jessica still struggles. The Nocturne brings her closer and closer and then looks at the Nocturne's eyes.
"Wait a minute, you're not like other Nytheris, you're different," he says, and Jessica stops struggling and tries to process what he just said. Whatever that even means.
"Why are you so different, though? What makes you different?" he asks, tilting his head, trying to understand her.
"Put her down, right now!" a familiar voice demands, and everyone, including Jessica, turns to the side to see who it is. And it's him, angry as ever with his claws out, ready to pounce on anyone who hurts Jessica.
A smile creeps up on Jessica's face.
Ya'll are toast. She thinks to herself, smiling.
