The way Caleb looked at Elara made her cheeks warm. His attention was flattering—genuine in a way she hadn't experienced in years.
"You're blushing," he noted, his voice low.
"Am I?" Elara touched her cheek self-consciously.
From across the ballroom, Vivienne watched their interaction with narrowed eyes. She leaned closer to Damien as they danced.
"Isn't that Caleb Jennings with your wife?" she asked, her tone deliberately casual. "He's quite the catch. His family practically owns half of Seattle's real estate."
Damien's gaze flickered briefly toward Elara and Caleb. "Ex-wife. And I don't keep track of her dance partners."
Vivienne smiled, satisfied with his response. "Of course not."
Around the room, their appearance together was drawing attention. Jorge Hamilton frowned as he watched Elara and Caleb, whispering something to his companion. Several others cast curious glances their way.
"People are staring," Elara murmured.
