The bouquet of white tulips felt heavy in my hands as I stepped into the hospital room. I'd picked them myself, knowing they were Eleanor's favorites.

Dylan, Lucas, and Jorge were already there, their conversation halting when I appeared in the doorway. All three men turned to look at me, but I kept my eyes fixed on Eleanor.

"Catherine, dear," Eleanor's face brightened. "How lovely to see you."

"I brought these for you," I said, my voice cool and measured.

Instead of approaching Eleanor's bed directly, I handed the flowers to Dylan without meeting his eyes. "Could you find a vase for these?"

Dylan took the bouquet, his fingers briefly brushing against mine. I pulled my hand away quickly, as if burned.

"Of course," he said, his voice giving away nothing.

I moved to Eleanor's bedside, leaning down to kiss her papery cheek. "How are you feeling today?"
