Chapter 228 - A Hospital Call
I stared at the message on my phone, reading it three times to make sure I hadn't misunderstood.
"Eleanor Thorne has been hospitalized with a fractured femur. Surgery tomorrow. She would appreciate a visit."
The sender was Dylan Norton.
My thumb hovered over the screen as conflicting emotions washed over me. Eleanor had always been kind to me, even when Dylan wasn't. She was one of the few people from the Norton family who had treated me with genuine warmth. But visiting her meant potentially running into Dylan and Vivienne.
I set my phone down on my desk and rubbed my temples. The last few weeks had been exhausting—finalizing the CUAP integration with the government's security systems had consumed most of my waking hours. Julian and I had barely left the YodaVision offices, working late into the night to meet deadlines.
My phone buzzed again. Julian.
"Everything okay? You look like you've seen a ghost."
