I heard Cora's excited squeals from my home office. For the past ten minutes, she'd been chatting animatedly on the phone, her high-pitched voice carrying through the apartment. I smiled, continuing to review the quarterly projections on my laptop. It was rare to work from home these days, but Cora had a half-day at school, and I'd promised to be here when she got back.


"Daddy!" Cora exclaimed, her voice louder now as she burst into my office. "Daddy wants to talk to you!"
