Chapter 259 - The Unavoidable Encounter
I checked my watch as Julian and I walked through the revolving doors of Sapphire, one of San Francisco's most exclusive restaurants. We were right on time for our meeting with Kevin Thatcher.
"There he is," Julian nodded toward a table by the window where Kevin sat reviewing documents.
As we made our way across the dining room, the familiar scent of expensive cologne hit me before I even saw him. Dylan.
My steps faltered slightly. Julian noticed immediately, his eyes following my gaze to where Dylan sat with several business associates at a corner table.
"We can reschedule," Julian murmured, his voice low and protective.
I shook my head. "No. I'm not rearranging my life to avoid him."
Dylan looked up at that exact moment, our eyes meeting across the restaurant. His expression remained unchanged – that perfect mask of indifference he always wore. He gave a slight nod of acknowledgment before returning to his conversation.
