I couldn't take my eyes off her.
Catherine Walsh stood across the room, deep in conversation with Julian Croft, completely unaware of my attention. The afternoon light streaming through ApexSphere's windows caught the amber highlights in her hair, making it shimmer like burnished gold.
"Jorge, are you even listening?" Lucas Palmer's voice broke through my thoughts.
"Sorry," I muttered, reluctantly shifting my focus back to him. "What were you saying about the quarterly projections?"
Lucas followed my gaze and sighed. "You're not being subtle."
"I'm not trying to be," I replied, my eyes drifting back to Catherine.
We were standing in ApexSphere's main workspace, ostensibly reviewing financial reports. In reality, I'd engineered this visit specifically to coincide with YodaVision's security consultation. I knew Catherine would be here.
"Dylan is your friend," Lucas reminded me, his voice low. "Your best friend since childhood."
"And?"
