A Holy Quest

The next morning, Kenjiro woke up feeling... different. The soreness was still there, a dull ache in his muscles, but underneath it was a thrum of energy, a low-level hum of power that hadn't been there before. His red eyes felt sharper, more focused. The rage was still there, a constant companion, but now it felt less like a wildfire and more like the controlled burn of a furnace.

He skipped his morning workout, deciding to let his body recover, and instead headed straight for the main guild hall with a singular purpose. He needed a real mission. A real challenge. The goblin and chimera quests were child's play, and they hadn't gotten him any closer to his real target.

He stood before the mission board with his party, scanning past the C and B-Rank listings. "We need something bigger," he declared. "Something that pays enough to get me stronger, faster."

"A Rank A quest, my lady?" Gluteus asked, his voice a mixture of excitement and concern. "Those are reserved for the most elite adventurers."

"We are the most elite!" Kenjiro shot back, puffing out his chest. "And don't call me lady you big…jerk"

As if on cue, a hush fell over the bustling lobby. The guild members parted making way for a figure walking toward the mission board. It was the beautiful, blonde-haired priestess. She moved with an aura of serene authority, her blue eyes not even glancing at the gawking adventurers.

She pinned a new, glowing parchment to the board. It pulsed with a golden light, signifying a quest of immense importance and danger.

Mission Rank: A

Objective: Retrieve the Sunstone of St. Seraphiel from the demon-infested Cathedral of Eternal Night.

Warning: Unholy presence is overwhelming. High-level demonic entities confirmed. Only parties with holy sanction should attempt.

Kenjiro's heart hammered in his chest. This was it. A chance to prove himself, right in front of her.

"We'll take it," he announced, his voice ringing with a confidence he didn't entirely feel.

The priestess finally turned her gaze to him. Her perfect lips curled into a slight, disdainful frown. "You?" she said, her voice like ice. "I require a party of champions, not a sideshow of cute children led by a pouting boy in a skirt."

The insult hit Kenjiro harder than any physical blow. Before he could retort with a string of his usual nonsense, Ryo appeared, seemingly out of nowhere, and smoothly stepped between them.

"Now, now, Seraphina," Ryo said with a charming smile. "Don't underestimate our Bombom. His party has a perfect success rate, and he possesses a... unique power that might be just what you need against demons." He gave Kenjiro a subtle wink. "The guild will officially sponsor this mission. Any damages or failures will be on our coin."

Seraphina looked from Ryo's confident face to Kenjiro's furious, blushing one. She sighed, a long, suffering sound. "There are no other A-Rank parties available," she conceded, her voice filled with reluctance. "Fine. You may attempt the quest. But I will be accompanying you to... supervise."

She looked Kenjiro up and down one last time. "Try not to get yourself killed. It would be a waste of a pretty face."

With that, she turned and walked away.

Kenjiro stood there, trembling with a potent cocktail of rage, humiliation, and fiery determination. He turned to his party, his red eyes blazing.

"You heard her," he said through gritted teeth. "Get ready. We're going to that cathedral, we're going to get that stupid stone, and we're going to show that stuck-up priestess what a real monster can do."
